No way. But he's in the top 5 though.

Brandon Duckworth was traded from the Pirates to the Royals.  Remember when he used to be on the Myers/Byrd/Floyd level of prospects?

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

How does a 42 year-old man die of natural causes?

Also - does anyone else remember Jones running into the wall at Shea & obliterating his knee as a result?  I can still remember listening to Harry say "oh, no... oh, no..." over and over again.

:-[

BigEd76

He made it back and blew out the other knee on the Vet turf the following year.  A couple ABs after that and he was finished...

Geowhizzer

I remember that poor kid being snakebit.

At 42, I'm guessing that "natural causes" is a heart attack or something like that.  Way too young to die.  And if he died last week, he was only 41, as Baseball-Reference lists him as turning 42 yesterday.

Rest in peace, Ron.

Remember this? - Bonds charges Botallico

See the likes of Mike Welch, Bobby Estallela and Mark Lewis in the red stripes.

Speaking of Mike Welch. I saw him pitch when Randy Johnson made his home debut as an Astro. The Phils lost 9-0 and Jon Zuber was the starting 1B that day.  :-D

look how thin Bonds was in that video

Guess what?

Batting Bobby Abreu leadoff isnt a goddamn magic pill that will cure the big problems that this offense has. Having him in the one hole will not make them a more consistent team. It will not help Pat Burrell lay off the slider in the dirt. It will not help David Bell from popping out to every INF on the diamond. It will not help them hit better with RISP.

Until they get more consistent and strike out less as a team the lead off problem is not a big problem.

I'm sick and tired of hearing about Bobby "refusing" to bat leadoff. THIS TEAM IS INCONSISTENT!

Phreak - remember when I suggested CF day at a Phillies game?  I changed my mind, they are just too painful to watch right now...although a good day at tailgating can cure most of that.

the reason the Phillies are what they are and will always be...

QuoteThe Phillies are last in the National League in hitting with runners in scoring position @ .237

Phillies starters have the highest ERA in the league @ 5.27.

ice grillin you

burrell went down looking again sunday...hes gotta set some kind of record for that this year...call elias...overall the team had four looking strikeouts on sunday...four in one game!!...their hitting is absolutely atrocious

in the four game series with the nationals they scored 16 runs in 39 innings and only 8 runs in 39 innings that didnt come via the home run

and they had 12 or more men left on base in all four games

i know their starting pitching is sub par....but their overall (not just with risp)lack of situational hitting is by far their biggest problem
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous
