i'm with you Phreak.

of course all this arguing does nothing until they actually get on the field in July and we can really see where guys are playing.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

One more.

Jonathan Ogden, the 4th overall player selected in 1996, was drafted to be a cornerstone LT. What position did the  SIX FOOT NINE Ogden play in his rookie season?

Guard.

What are you trying to say, Phreak?
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

PhillyPhreak54

Guard.

And I need another beer.

All your examples of guys switching between LT & RT and C & G are meaningless.  All really good Centers should be able to play Guard.  All really good Tackles should be able to play on either side of the line.

So, if we're comparing apples to apples...

Larry Allen?  Much stronger than Herremans will ever be.  Guys with a more *stout* body type who also happen to have quick feet (theoretically, Andrews is like this) can play both OG and OT.

Jonathan Ogden?  His pedigree is leaps and bounds above what Herremans can ever be.  A guy with that level of talent can play anywhere on the line and make his team better.

Todd Herremans is not up to that level.  He is a classic wait-and-see pass-blocking left tackle.  He'll be a decent one, but he'll be no better than averagish if plugged in at OG.  That said... averagish would be a huge improvement over the turnstile named Artis Hicks.

Herremans = LG = best thing for the team.

Goodnight. :)

Obviously, this was meant for my brilliant post and not Phreak's rechurned garbage about "best for the team".

Rome

Unless the Eagles draft a guard in either the first or second round, or Thomas or Runyan get hurt, expect to see Herremans at one of the starting guard spots.

Bank on it.

"one of the starting guard spots"??  He won't sniff RG.

Herremans will be the starting LG this year.  I'm just contending that he's not really the best guy for the job.

Yeah, but do you really see a 6-6 321 lb Herremans regularly getting overpowered despite not having what you call a *stout* body type?  I don't.

Define "regularly".  If you mean more often than anyone else on the starting OL, then yes.

herremans has no mass and what little he does have is spread out...add in his 6-6/6-7 height and he has a non existent center of gravity...he also has extremely long arms which will allow defensive tackles to be able to get inside of him to easily....theres also the concern that hes never played guard at all much less at the nfl level
