One of my buddies played cards in AC with a guy who claimed he was the real papa john. Said he was a much older guy (like senior citizen) and pulled out business cards and shtein with his name on it, had some pics of himself with some of the papa johns stores, etc

He bought it, but a quick google seach shows the founder of Papa Johns was in High School in the early 80's.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

What google search are you using?

He was born in 61 and would have been 18 and out of HS in 79 or maybe 1980. He was 23 when he founded the company in 84.

Let's keep talking about Papa shteinpizza some more

They have their name on a meaningless college bowl game so there's that

If you've never had it, it's basically Domino's with garlic butter oil dipping sauce

yeah i figured if you have one delivery pizza chain youve had them all...anyway im not gonna use it i was just floored that there isnt one that delivers to my house

it was papa papa john

Papa Johns was big in college because they were new, and they had decent pizza.  I dont know if the recipe changed, or the fact that i am not stoned 24hours a day, but it tastes pretty bad now.

For fast food pizza...its pretty good. Better than Dominoes, and 1 billion times better than pizza hut. I pretty much always order dominoes because it is cheap, I can get two pizzas for the price of 1 papa john's pizza pie.

Roundtable pizza and shakey's are still the best chain pizzas.  Of course, that means excluding specialty pizza places like California Pizza Kitchen and BJ's Brewhouse. The last great mom 'n pop chain pizza has gone out of business...Mama's pizza...shtein was delicious.

I heard that Chicago has a decent pizza.  Small town, maybe you've heard of it.

There's some good mom and pop joints on the left coast.....plenty of northeastern transplants who know what they're doing and open up shop.  Problem though is that they are dying off because everyone wants cheap, fast pizza and that's not what mom and pop's are about.  The pizza parlor from the northeast just isn't something left coasters are interested in.

i love a good deep dish but it just isnt pizza.....altho i agree chicago is the kind of city that possibly could make a decent pizza...i was just assuming that would be blasephemy there and that they dont make real pizza

Truth on Chicago deep-dish. It's farging good, it's almost most definitely not pizza.
