Pre-birth child abuse laws are simply impossible if abortion is legal, which it always will be.

Game over.

How about some sex in space?

Not really.  I mean... is it technically illegal for a woman to stab herself through the gut and terminate her own pregnancy or severely deform her fetus?  It shouldn't be, unless it's also illegal for a woman that's not pregnant to stab herself.

I'm fairly certain that there are no specific laws against self-mutilation, and as rjs is gently alluding with his timidly-expressed opinion, there can't and shouldn't be.

If we just locked up all pregnant women in safety pods for 9 months..none of this would be a problem. Sheesh.

And neglecting to take folic acid while pregnant would have to be illegal. And dieting while pregnant would have to be illegal. And making your abusive boyfriend angry while pregnant would have to be illegal...

Your powers of observation are astounding.

Try to weed through my nonsense to get to the real point. It's a fun game I've put together for you.

The philly airport is rated one of the worst in the country.

If possible, I try to avoid flying out of it at almost any cost. And I flat out refuse to fly USAir.

They are both terrible...and overpriced.

I had no real problems with US Air, especially since I was using "take flight" certificates from getting bumped on the way home from Cancun last summer. In fact, other than the delay at PHL, my flights were pretty good. And I put the delay on the PHL management, not on the airline.

I came home via Charlotte on this last trip, and it was a breeze.

It's all a crapshoot anyway.

I knew I read this recently, so Wingboy--your assumptive statement is wrong

Philadelphia is ranked atop for large airports

Would a pregnant woman flying US Airways out of Philly be subject to child abuse laws for subjecting her unborn fetus to the horrific experience?

Pre-birth child abuse laws are simply impossible if abortion is legal, which it always will be.

Here is the distinction I propose (not that I agree with it, but is an interesting problem): Abuse of the fetus is not illegal, because as you say, abortion is legal.  The mother can do whatever she wants to herself or her baby as long as she dies or gets an abortion.

The question comes when the baby is born, and has (for example) symptoms of fetal alcohol syndrome.  The child is now alive and a person, and has disabilities and deformities which are the direct results of the mother's actions.  Does this change things?

Parallels exist for children post-birth: if you starve your kid to death, you are a criminal.  If you deny your kids medical treatment, you are a criminal.  I would argue that this situation would not need a new set of laws, but rather an extension of existing child abuse/negligence laws which are enforced primarily on visible effects, rather than prevention.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.
