The philly airport is rated one of the worst in the country.

If possible, I try to avoid flying out of it at almost any cost. And I flat out refuse to fly USAir.

They are both terrible...and overpriced.

I've heard that this is a frequent problem with the Philly airport.

Yes, indeed it is.

I hate Philly, but Atlanta is the worst

It's not, actually.  Both are ill-equipped to handle their level of traffic, but as flight schedules start to pare back, you'll see Atlanta running like a well-oiled machine compared to Philly.

Holy can of worms, Batman:
QuotePolice spokesman Detective Sergeant Jason Perry said he was unsure if the woman's drinking was a criminal offence.

"It's gravely concerning that anyone would consume large amounts of alcohol while pregnant, placing the welfare of their own unborn child at risk," he told the local Bay of Plenty Times.

"We will certainly be investigating the circumstances and if there is any criminality involved, we will consider whether charges should be laid against her."

Obviously, if you are from the "life begins at conception" crowd, the answer is obvious.

However, how does your reasoning work out if a child is born with serious illness or disability because of the behavior of the mother?  Can you abuse a child before it is a "life"?  Is responsibility for the care of the fetus retroactive if the child is born?  Does this result in an increased abortion rate for those who have committed pre-natal child abuse?

*shudder*  You thought the abortion debate was bad...
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Frankly, I think the government should implement as many behavioral restrictions as possible. We cannot be trusted to behave otherwise.

There's a difference between self abuse, mutilation, suicide.  Things change when other people (especially children) are involved.

If you're indifferent towards abortion and believe that life begins at birth, then you absolutely have to allow a woman to do whatever she wants to her "own" body until that time.  Either a fetus is a person and has rights as such or does not.  There is no way to waffle around it or try to sit on the fence.  If you do, it's akin to the whole "torture is worse than beheading" argument that was being thrown around last week.  Don't play that shtein.  Realize that the time between conception and birth is not cut and dried, but the law has to be.  It can't be legal to abort a pregnancy but illegal for a woman to drink herself into oblivion when she's pregnant.

If "choice" is a personal freedom, then pre-birth child abuse is too.

Or, we could just trust women to use their good judgement while they're pregnant instead of introducing new, unenforceable laws that serve to take even more responsibility and decision making away from adults. But that wouldn't make any sense. We need superfluous, bloated, big brother laws to tell us how to act. Otherwise, we are lost.

SunMo

if the law is unenforceable then it really shouldn't effect 95% of the pregnant women out there, right?  but in the rare case you get a dummy who walks up to a cop 8 months pregnant with a vodka bottle in her hand, i want something in place that puts her ass in jail for endangering the life of her unborn baby

No.

EDIT: I started this so I'll give a real response. I see what you're saying but enacting a law that is unenforceable except in the most extreme circumstances is unnecessary and continues the idiotic trend of creating more and more laws to force behavior that people should already be capable of doing on their own. Most of these behaviors have very obvious and dire consequences that frequently force the offender into dealing with their choice. Putting a law in place to 'drive the point home' does nothing but make softies like you who love children and want them all to be healthy and sexy feel better.

Babies and children are property of their parents. Just because you find them sexy doens't mean that we need a law ensuring that they all be born sexy.
