Sgt PSN

About 10 years too late if you ask me.

Austin is a pretty kick ass city......a hell of a lot more liberal than I thought it'd be.

Nuclear explosions would probably reduce the amount of pollution that comes from that state.

Well, my kid graduated and is gone for four years come this January. The Navy.

hes going to the academy or hes going in the actual navy?

The Actual Navy. He didn't want to go to Annapolis, wants to get away from this area and see the world. So we never even tried to get him in. Not that he could have, but his grades were good enough.
I have to get him to a Eagles game before he goes, he said thats one thing he wants to do.

What rating did he chose and when does he leave for Great Lakes? Let me know if he has any questions.

Rate gets determined tommorrow when he meets again with his recruiter. All I know is the recruiter told him he could go in higher than an E-1. He will leave in January for Great Lakes. I told him it will be a hell of a time to be in Chicago. I can't imagine how cold it gets up there.

He scored 59 on the asvab. I think the recruiter told me 40 was the avg.

He could go in higher than an E-1 if he has any college or suckers 2 other people to join, otherwise that's what they tell everyone. The recruiter doesn't actually assign him his rating, that will be determined when he's at MEPs. I took my ASVAB (scored a 72) and had my rate during the same day. 59 pretty much qualifies him for any job other than Nuke. They only use 4 different sections of the ASVAB when they determine his rate. It will be up to him to determine what rate he wants to be classified as. I'd stay away from any of the aviation rates, most of them suck. If I had to chose all over I'd go IT which is basically the same thing a regular IT would do only shipboard.
Great Lakes sucks in January, I thought I knew what cold was coming from Philly...I was wrong. I got stuck there from the end of Sept. till early Feb. because they farged my orders up. I got stuck in a holding division and was a gate guard until my orders got straightened out.

Phanatic

I was an aviation rate and I loved it. (AE)I was also assigned to a EP-3 squadren so I never saw the deck of a ship.

To each their own though.
