It appears NAFTA has locked the US and Canadian economies together.  The Canadian dollar has tracked the US dollar penny-for-penny since parity.

While I'm on the subject, my wife and I would have paid a higher % of our income in US Federal and state taxes than we did Canadian/Provincial.  Granted, we pay a federal sales tax, so it probably comes out about the same.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

Yep.  I got it a year ago.  It is now almost certainly worth less than I owe on it.  Maybe half.

Damn, that sucks.  What's the word on the drunk that hit you?

Also, seeing that you're upside down on your truck I decided to do a quick check with my car to see where I'm at on it.

I owe $13k and some change on it and blue book value has it at $15k and change for a dealer trade and $18k and change for a private sell.  Not too shabby.  And if the gas prices keep climbing at the rate they are then I very well may sell it before I move to Cali where gas is over $4.00/gallon.  I doubt I'd be able to afford to drive it, even just on the weekends, at those prices.

Hans Reiser convicted of 1st degree murder.

  • No body
  • No weapon
  • Almost no physical evidence
  • Victim's lover has confessed to 8 murders
  • Prosecutor suggests that Reiser choked his wife, while the only physical evidence was blood

God bless America.

I guess she's expanding her niche....

I see what she did there.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I'd hit the shtein out of it.  Then hit it with a beer bottle, rendering her unconscience.  Then, I'd hit it again.

I don't know. After reading that I think they got it right...

Quote
In a characteristic exchange under cross-examination, Reiser tried to explain why he'd removed and discarded the passenger seat from his two-seater Honda CRX after Nina vanished. His explanation: He'd been sleeping in the vehicle, and wanted the extra room. Asked why he hosed down the inside of the car, leaving an inch of water on the floorboard, he explained that the interior was dirty, and he mistakenly believed the water would drain out.

"I just assumed that every car engineer would put a hole in the car," he said.

"Don't you remember sleeping on a nice, soft, wet carpet?" Hora went on to ask.

Reiser replied, "I don't remember."

By the time he was done, Reiser had succeeded only in dispelling the cloud of ambiguity surrounding his actions in the case, replacing it with a storm of very specific explanations that each strained credulity. Jurors had to choose between Reiser's strained version of events and the plain conclusion that he was lying.

Nina Reiser, then 31, was last seen September 3, 2006, while dropping off the divorcing couple's two young children to stay with Hans for part of Labor Day weekend. Authorities believe she never left her estranged husband's house in the Oakland hills alive.
