I'm guilty of lazy speak, and I write like I speak when not in a business environment.  I commonly use words like gimme, wanna, gonna...   I heard a newscaster this morning say "Didja" instead of "did you"...   I also swear more than I should, commonly using sh!t, goddamn, and the eff word.  I'm an educated professional that makes a decent living, and I can't even bring myself to speak better than a teenager standing on a street corner.

Is our society so lazy that we can't even speak correctly?  This is how we're raising our kids?

Language is a constantly changing creature. Gimme, wanna, gonna is much more acceptable than the shtein any teenager is using right now. Especially if they're doing it via text.
