Quoteuit: Burger King sold pot burgers to cops

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (AP) -- Two police officers sued Burger King Corp., claiming they were served hamburgers that had been sprinkled with marijuana.

The lawsuit says Mark Landavazo and Henry Gabaldon, officers for the Isleta Pueblo tribal police, were in uniform and riding in a marked patrol car when they bought meals at the drive-through lane October 8 of a Burger King restaurant in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

The officers ate about half of their burgers before discovering marijuana on the meat, the lawsuit said. They used a field test kit to confirm the substance was pot, then went to a hospital for medical evaluations.

"It gives a whole new meaning to the word 'Whopper,"' the officers' attorney, Sam Bregman, said Monday.

"The idea that these hoodlums would put marijuana into a hamburger and therefore attempt to impair law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs is outrageous."

Three Burger King employees were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and aggravated battery on an officer, a felony. They later were indicted.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in Bernalillo County, alleges personal injury, negligence, battery and violation of fair practices. It seeks unspecified damages along with legal costs.

Officials at Miami-based Burger King declined to comment, citing a company policy against discussing pending litigation.

Just got back from playing in a flag football game.  Played alright.  First time I've played organized football in a while so my wind wasn't where it should have been... but one thing is perfectly clear... without a shadow of a doubt.

I'm not fast anymore.

I'm just not.  In HS and college, I used to pride myself on my speed.  Never the biggest guy around, but through football and running track... my speed was something I could be proud of.  But one play out there told me that I have definitely lost a step or five.

End of the 1st half, they had just scored and were going for the extra point.  I'm sitting at OLB, and they throw to a receiver in my zone.  The ball's a little high so the guy has to jump for it and basically can only tip it.  The ball's in the air... and I'm right there to pick it off and I'm going the other way.  Believe me when I tell you that mentally, I got into "Lito Sheppard mode" and had visions of taking it all the way back.  The QB was the only one I had to beat.  Looking at this guy, I'm pretty confident I can outrun him.  He's a bigger guy... got some weight on him.  He has a good angle on me so I give him a little stutter step to throw him off.  I saw him go for it and slow down.  That's my cue to throw it into the next gear and leave him behind, right?

Wrong.

There was no next gear.  Just the same ol' speed which I thought was about 3/4 my full speed.  As he's getting closer and closer to me, I'm thinking, "WTF?" so I just try to run towards the pilon to create some space.  That got me a few more yards, but he ended up getting to me before I could get to the end zone so no points for the good guys.

Now I'm about 7 years removed from college, but if this was even 3 years ago... I would have blown by that guy.  Instead, I got "tackled" and my hammy and feet hurt like hell.  Since the athletic ability isn't what it used to be... I guess I have to rely on "savvy" to get it done.  Which means that I'm pretty much farged from here on out.  Depressing as hell.

Does it even matter? If it was on a conversion, the ball should be dead when you intercept it then they kickoff to your team of slowasses.

Britney Spears Files for Divorce

Britney Spears has filed a petition for divorce from Kevin Federline.

TMZ obtained the legal papers, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing "irreconcilable differences." In her petition, Spears asks for both legal and physical custody of the couple's two children, one-year old Sean Preston and two-month old Jayden James, with Federline getting reasonable visitation rights.

As for money, sources tell TMZ the couple, who married in Sept. 2004, has an iron-clad prenup. Not surprisingly, Spears is waiving her right to spousal support. She's also asking the judge to make each party pay their own attorney's fees.

Spears gives the date of separation as yesterday, the same day she flaunted her incredible revamped physique during a surprise appearance on David Letterman's show. Sources tell TMZ there was no single reason for Britney pulling the plug, rather, it was "a string of events."

Spears has hired powerhouse celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has repped a number of celebs, including Angelina Jolie, Nick Lachey and Kiefer Sutherland. We're told Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe asked Wasser to rep both of them in their split, but Wasser declined for personal reasons.

There's a lot more wrong with that email than just the typo.

I hope you didn't give these guys any of your info.  Our investigative reporter just did a story last week about this exact email.  It's a scam to get your bank info and clean your shtein out.  People were getting that email and they didn't even bank with Washington Mutual.

So you're just laughing at a couple of hackers who misspelled a word in thier phishing attempt.  It was actually funnier when I thought you were laughing at the WAMU braintrust who sent the email.  And even then, it wasn't funny.

Yeti

True.  But you misspelling "their" is friggin hysterical.
