Any man who is drinking a beer on his death bed through a goddamned medicine dropper.. well, need I say more?

Word.  I hope I get to go something like that.

Sorry for your loss, Demon.  Sounds like he was a helluva guy.

you need more pictures on your wall

:-D Wasn't at my house, was at some kids little gathering a few years ago. Damn...I think I was 16 then? Maybe 17. Good times.

Romey-That's not a wife beater, that's a sleeveless t shirt. If you want pictures of me in a wife beater, talk to hbionic.

And your wife is still coming with me FF. What'd you have to go through to find that picture anyway? EMB Search engine?

Your attempts at salvaging your ego while taking wild and misguided jabs at anyone who correctly points out that you're a useless human being obviously provoke more emotion from you than from anyone else.

Demon, I told you Grolsch wasn't so bad.  Or did I?  Either way, it's decent stuff.

Father Demon

Guys - thanks for all the comments.  Much appreciated.

:-D   That's awesome - I hadn't even thought about that one.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Thank you, consumers, for making purchasing decisions based entirely upon cost.

Where India was the solution for outsourcing all the worlds IT woes, China is the solution to the worlds manufacturing woes.  In spite of NAFTA, it is cheaper to have stuff manufactured in China and pay the import duties than it is to manufacture it in Mexico/US/Canada.  It is cheaper to ship this shtein half way around the world than it is to make it here.  Procurement people in all industries are being pressured to reduce costs, and this is what you get.

My employer is building a massive production facility in China to "serve the Asian market".  Bullshtein.  As soon as they can move production there from NA/Europe, they will.

I had to package up most of a toy that is one my kid's favorites (painted with lead paint) and ship it back about 6 weeks ago.  We might get the replacement in time for Christmas.

If you read The World is Flat--you will have no quams about this-- and realize the world is a globalized economy. If its that massive, your company is getting faster and cheaper development of more components, thus creating more revenue. It allows your company to be able to compete in a global marketplace. Its smart.

It's hilarious that some of the people who bitch the most about globalization are the ones that support the type of government that taxes the shtein out of North American big business.  Make up your damn minds.

Cerevant

I don't have a problem with globalization when the competition is on a level playing field.  China artificially de-values their currency to reduce costs further and making the world dependent on their goods.  Labor practices used in China were outlawed in North America and Europe decades ago.  How is it ethical to abuse the rights of people just because they live on the other side of the world?

Further, there are no quality standards there - the goal is "as cheap as possible".  Well, when you outsource to the lowest bidder, you get lead paint and toxic chemicals in your kids toys.  When you outsource manufacturing of safety critical industrial automation equipment to the lowest bidder, don't be shocked when the chemical plant or oil refinery near you goes "boom".

Nice way to dodge the deserved insult, but the point still remains...

Part of the argument to allow North American business to run more cheaply is so that it can better compete with other markets on price.  You make good points on labor laws and the quality of products, but people are still buying the stuff, no?

It's a standard piece of capitalism.  You get what you pay for.  Just don't whine about losing jobs to China if they're willing to beat the shtein out of their workers and sacrifice quality to get there.  Really, you should be whining about tax/tariff breaks not being given to manufacturers in our continent that keep their standards high.

But, that would be all too free market.  SOAK THE RICH!

I started by blaming the consumer.

There are significant import tariffs for anything not manufactured in NA.  How is that not a break?

But be real, the import tariffs will have to double or triple the cost of something before it becomes cheaper to manufacture here.
