Sounds like he (or his attorney) should demand dashcam video.

That's one reason that people should record their interactions with the police.

I told him to go to the precinct and talk with a superior and get a lawyer. I hope he does it because that's incredible.

But then again this is Texas and they had a case awhile back where a state trooper did a body cavity search on a female on the side of a highway

The last place I'd start is with the old boys network. Chances are that going to the precinct will do two things: First, it will cause the bretheren to close ranks and start covering for each other. Second, it will put a target on your friend's back.

For what it's worth, many (many!) years ago, I worked a job pumping gas. Another guy who was working the overnight shift had a state trooper come into the office and ask if he could get change for a $100. The guy counted out the change and pointed the bills toward the cop, who snatched the money and walked out. The guy was too afraid to report it, for fear of retribution. He ended up having to cover the shortfall with his own money.

I think the same thing is going to happen here...he'll end up eating the loss and humiliation because he's young and afraid to make a stink about it.

It is sad because it would be good to see the cops get some comeuppance.

years back I left a house party and had enough sense to know I couldn't drive. so I sat in the passenger side of my car and passed out. cop woke me up and told me I had to go home but couldn't drive. he took my keys and said I could come to the district the next day for them. well I went a got my keys and when I got back to my car I noticed the rug was up in the hatch. car was still locked all around but when I looked in, the blaupunkt stereo and amp I had bought a few days earlier that was hidden in the spare tire compartment was gone. the tool box that was sitting on top was still there though. no sign of forced entry anywhere. my dad took me back to the district and we I fronted the cop he told my dad & I if we knew what was good for us we should leave and never ask another question about it.

I'd go right to the rat squad.  I'd also contact my local rep and the newspapers.  He better have a spotless record, though.

Amaro is a new client of my firm and was in today.  How long would be appropriate to wait until giving him shtein about Ryan Howard's contract?

give him shtein for the lee trade, you know, something he was actually responsible for

the howard contract was mandated by ownership and amaro didnt even have a ton to do with the number. the lee trade was 100% him and was the single dumbest thing he did, which is saying a lot
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Yup.  As awful as he was, he had to get a deal done with choke. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.  Not only was it coming from ownership, but the fans may have burned CBP to the ground had they let him walk.  He was stuck between a rock and a hard place on that one.

You're right.  This thread is for nonsensical discussions like errand talk.  I went to the post office today to mail out a couple packages. It was fun.
