I can't imagine how much of a pain in the ass it must be to live in one of those Usonian homes. Tiny, probably devoid of modern amenities, every repair is all custom, there's probably all kinds of restrictions on what you're allowed to do to it, and you get people coming by to gawk at it or request tours all the time. You have to have a certain mindset to be willing to put up with all that shtein, it can't be just a house to you.

I do like that they remain in use as private homes, though. It seems like the kind of place that would be sweet to own and put up on Airbnb, give everyone the chance to experience it.

Frank Lloyd Wright homes are almost never available for sale but there's one in L.A. that's headed for the auction block right now...

Interesting design but comparing it to Fallingwater is laughable on the part of the agency.  It's like comparing a Ford Edsel to a Bullitt Mustang.

Looks like it's seen better days

It compares to Fallingwater in several ways. First is the obvious cantilever design. Second is the cracking concrete, which seems to be inevitable in these types of designs. Yeah, it's seen better days. And I suppose that probably 2/3 of the asking amount is due to the fact that it's on a hillside in Brentwood.

It's a double lot but you'd never be able to develop them.   And like I said earlier in the thread, it's an unmistakeable Wright design, but it's hideous in comparison to most of his other Usonian homes.

Fallingwater is just stunning.

I think in that part of the world, I'd much prefer an Eichler type of place.

What you're saying then is that

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I randomly did a 'how long will I live' calculator yesterday. First time I didn't tell it how much I drink or that I used to smoke. It said I would live to be 97. Second time I maxed out the alcohol and entered that I had quit smoking. It said I would live to be 96. WHITE PRIVILEGE.

Also, that's a long farging time from now. No thank you.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I peg phatty as likely to expire sooner than later.  Unless he goes Keith and outlives us all.

The old heads are obviously contenders for First, but death is funny.  Someone like me prolly gonna get pancreatic cancer and waste away with the quickness.

If I go first, do me a solid and keep all the info in one place, if possible.

We should all throw a ten spot each year into a CFhoul Pool and see who comes up with the win. The pot should be limited to $100 though. There are probably at least a couple here who aren't more than a $100 incentive away from getting whacked already.
