Utah Couple Fined $3,500 by Online Merchant KlearGear Retains Lawyer, Turns Tables

When the Palmers refused to pay the amount, KlearGear.com reported their "debt" to one or more credit reporting agencies. When the Palmers disputed the debt with several credit reporting agencies, KlearGear.com continued to maintain that the debt was owed and then demanded a $50 "dispute fee" because they attempted to dispute the debt, the couple says.

Calgary-based mining company suing Costa Rica for more than $1 billion

Infinito Gold was hoping to operate an open-pit gold mine in the Crucitas region of Costa Rica's north.

But the project was held up in court, and after irregularities were found in the approval process the mine's approval was declared illegal. In 2011, Costa Rica banned all open-pit metal mining.

Infinito Gold says it will take the country of Costa Rica to international arbitration.

In a press release, the company said it had "served notice" to Costa Rica in April 2013, and after the country did not respond, its subsidiary announced a massive lawsuit is "imminent," the largest in Costa Rica's history.

The company believes the country is violating its trade agreements with Canada.

But international arbitration expert Gus Van Harten says Infinito Gold may have a case.

He says through international trade agreements signed between countries, international arbitrators have the power to override court and government decisions of sovereign countries.

Spike Lee Slams Designer Who Claims 'Oldboy' Poster Designs Were Stolen

Several people commented on Lee's Instagram page, asking the director to help Garcia. When one man wrote "Dude pay the graphic artist," Lee responded: "Why Should I Pay Someone Who I Never Met Nor Had Any Contact With Ever? He Never Made Any Deal With Me.Why Don't You Pay Me For Your Stupid Text On Thanksgiving Day?"

Earlier, in his open letter, Garcia said he wanted to contact Lee after seeing the director had used the Oldboy promotional materials in question in his social media feeds.

"I couldn't believe that you had been using and claiming copyright on three of those very same posters I designed," Garcia wrote. "I just couldn't believe it. I perceive you as an advocate of the arts and artists and have a sinking feeling that you are as much of a victim in this as I am."

Spike Lee gave away signed copies of these posters as part of his Kickstarter campaign for a $1.25m vampire movie. Because Spike Lee needs donations, I guess.

Two year old mastiff dies on United Airlines flight

We have now learned that every 9 days a pet dies on a commercial airline. Yet the airline industry holds all the cards. Almost zero regulation, accountability or informing of the public of the actual dangers of airline flight, even though his one way ticket was double my round trip. The airline and law consider him "luggage" and my recourse has been exactly that. In fact, only "pet" deaths are reported, not the hundreds of deaths of commercial animals, breeding pets, livestock, exotics, primates, etc.
