The towing part is a bit extreme...but I imagine the officer was told he had to do that.  The tow driver even said he had towed several others.  Just bad luck I guess.

I guess that's is kind of weird that he didn't let you go, being NYC, I'm sure they got alot more to worry about. Sounds like someone had to meet his quota for the month and you were one of the lucky ones.

First pic is hot.

Get three locks, at least one of which is a Kryptonite chain/American lock combo, and heavy duty cover for it, too.  Those things vanish as fast as gixxers.

I dont bother anymore. My drz has a factory steering lock I use when I park on the streets but i keep em all inside my garage overnight anyways. if someone really wants your bike, they'll get it. They've been breaking into garages and stealin them while your asleep now. :paranoid

Best way is to get a HA supporter sticker.

Anyways, what's up with no splitting and these inspections? what are they inspecting? turn-signals, mirrors, aftermarket pipes, etc or what? sounds like they figured out a new way to tax riders. no splitting is straight up bs because it really improves traffic flow and you dont have to breathe in all that crap at stoplights.

As my name suggests, I'm not much of a poster but more of a reader but I had to share this story and I don't think it deserves it's own thread.

I'm going to Wawa to pick up a daily news (Friday - Eagles playbook).  Regardless, I'm getting back in my car and a car pulls up next to me.  Out comes a guy with a brand new Cowboys TO jersey.  Immediately, I"m thinking in my head alot of nasty things.  Around the back of Wawa comes four pretty big dudes.  That's when the chaos begins.  They start rapping to the guy about taking the jersey off or they would take the jersey off for him.  Well......he has his girl with him, and I guess he figured he would be a big guy and start rapping back.   A fight ensues.  Just alot of yelling and shoving but needless to say, this made my day.  I might be a bad person for this but lord, this really made my day.  As fast as it started, it stopped.  Guy never went into Wawa, just got back into his car and left and his girl looked like she was going to cry.

Perfect start to the day and a perfect city to live in.  Go Eagles!!   :cfhead

Google To Buy YouTube for $1.6 Billion?
TechCrunch
TechCrunch scoopmaster Michael Arrington today reports that he received an email that Google is in the final stages of completing a deal to acquire YouTube, the viral video sensation, for $1.6 billion. Arrington says he called a VC source, who confirmed the price and said the rumors are circulating. It has been reported before that YouTube has held informal talks with a number of media companies about an acquisition in the $1.5-$2 billion range. Adds Arrington: "I suspect Google won't be daunted by the prospect of dealing with a ton of pissed off copyright holders. Based on experience with these sort of rumors, I'd put this at 40 percent likely to be at least partially true."

Google, of course, is constantly embroiled in copyright suits. Its plan to digitize the world's books has landed it in court with publishers; it has faced lawsuits regarding the use of newspaper publishers' content on its Google News service, and it has also been sued for allowing advertisers to buy other company's trademarks. Today's rumor comes a week after billionaire investor and dot-com vet Mark Cuban claimed about YouTube, "anyone who buys that is a moron" because of the potential for lawsuits from copyright violations. He said the minute a big company buys the viral video site, it would be "sued into oblivion."

HA! Good to hear the phans are keeping it real.

TRUCK, my guess about splitting the lanes in east coast are that the roads rarely get wider than 3 lanes in major cities on east coast, the roads are alot different over here in general, not like the big 5 lane highways out there. Not like people don't do it anyway.

Guards at Gitmo brag about beating prisoners.

yahoo/ap link

QuoteCAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - Guards at Guantanamo Bay bragged about beating detainees and described it as common practice, a Marine sergeant said in a sworn statement obtained by The Associated Press.

The two-page statement was sent Wednesday to the Inspector General at the Department of Defense by a high-ranking Marine Corps defense lawyer.

The lawyer sent the statement on behalf of a paralegal who said men she met on Sept. 23 at a bar on the base identified themselves to her as guards. The woman, whose name was blacked out, said she spent about an hour talking with them. No one was in uniform, she said.

A 19-year-old sailor referred to only as Bo "told the other guards and me about him beating different detainees being held in the prison," the statement said.

"One such story Bo told involved him taking a detainee by the head and hitting the detainee's head into the cell door. Bo said that his actions were known by others," the statement said. The sailor said he was never punished.

The statement was provided to the AP on Thursday night by Lt. Col. Colby Vokey. He is the Marine Corps' defense coordinator for the western United States and based at Camp Pendleton.

Calls left for representatives at Guantanamo Bay on Friday were not immediately returned. A Pentagon spokesman declined immediate comment.

Other guards "also told their own stories of abuse towards the detainees" that included hitting them, denying them water and "removing privileges for no reason."

"About 5 others in the group admitted hitting detainees" and that included "punching in the face," the affidavit said.

"From the whole conversation, I understood that striking detainees was a common practice," the sergeant wrote. "Everyone in the group laughed at the others stories of beating detainees."

Kinda hard to expect the rest of the world not to torture U.S. soldiers if the U.S. won't hold themselves to the same standard.  The people who tell us that the U.S. doesn't torture are lying.  We know the U.S. tortures, abuses, murders, rapes.  Proof arrives almost weekly.  This country has lost any moral high ground it once held.

I was just talking to a guy yesterday that used to be a guard there and he was telling me how they did crap like that.  He said they were too smart to take pictures.

Man names his son ESPN

Since you've got to register to see it...

Quote
BILOXI, Miss. — Leann Real promised her husband, an avid sports fan, that if they ever had a son he'd get to pick the name. ESPN Montana Real was born this week at Biloxi Regional Medical Center.

Rusty Real, of D'Iberville, chose ESPN (pronounced Espen) after the sports network and Montana after football legend Joe Montana.

Baby ESPN isn't alone.

Three others were cited in a 2005 report on tivocommunity.com about the network's 25th anniversary. They are Espn Malachi McCall in Pampa, Texas; Espn Curiel in Corpus Christi, Texas; and Espn Blondeel in Michigan.

"We were the talk of the hospital," Rusty Real said. "The nurses kept asking my wife if she was really going to let her husband name him ESPN. She said, 'Oh, yes.'"
