Anybody think they can get into Harvard beside rjs? Heres the entrance exam back in 1869.

That's a pretty cool find. And no, at no point in my life could I have ever gotten into Harvard. Based on what I've heard from friends who went there I wouldn't wish the Harvard college experience on my worst enemy. Public universities for the drunken win.

The Harvard exam is just wow.  And there is no doubt I'm dumber than an 1895 8th grader.  Also, I've been to Salina, KS and I'm pretty sure their 8th graders couldn't even comprehend the questions on that test, let alone answer them.

In related news, I just watched the Donald Trump roast and 'The Situation' is a farging moron...as previously thought. I don't think any other television moment had made me cringe like this one. Back to current news and mindless minutia.

I don't think so.  Well, you are.  But you're also a dumbass by today's standards too, so you got that going for you. 

But really though, there is so much more information available today than there was 100+ years ago that you simply can't expect to cram it all into every single kids' head. 

I'd be willing to bet that when I was in 8th grade, I'd do fairly well on that 1895 exam.  Everything they asked on that test is stuff I remember learning about....I just don't remember exactly what it was I learned because I haven't applied it since then.  Also, notice that there was no science at all.  Of course, they were studying things that were considered relevant and useful for that time period.  Ciricumlum changes over the years, as it should.  It's like your attic or basement.....every few years, you need to go through it and get rid of the stuff that isn't useful anymore so you can make room for new stuff.
