I don't think Russia or The United States is stupid enough to start that type of fight.  Its the jihadists that worry me when it comes to that sort of thing.

You're missing my point.  Its easy for the Russians to invade Georgia, much like it was easy for the U.S. to invade Iraq.  Just come up with some bullshtein reason that "masks" your own greed or whatever and deal with the international backlash. 

Russians or Americans directly firing on each other, however, is a whole different can of wax.  That would start WW3.
