Also, I'm curious about something. In the couple hundred years leading up to Katrina, how many times was New Orleans completely destroyed by hurricanes or other weather issues? Has this happened before? It sort of lends (even yet still) more credence to global warming research...

Hurricanes didn't happen before Al Gore released an Inconvenient Truth.

MY POINT EXACTLY.

My question is simply this. Have two major hurricanes blasted the same area in such a short period of time? Are hurricane seasons/magnitudes getting more severe? These are questions I don't know the answers to and am curious about. Don't sweat it, I'll look it up or ask someone that cares.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

A meteorologist this morning not wanting to get into the GW debate stated that the reason we are going to have a heavy hurricane season is because global ocean temperatures are up. Warmer water somehow causes more hurricanes and tropical storms. He said it wasn't necessarily because of global warming but there you have it.

warmer water does produce stronger hurricanes, thats a fact.  I think its from people peeing in the ocean

I took a leak in the ocean this summer so I contributed to the problem. It was either there or on a toilet seat.

SD's gonna get a big fat hug from me next time I see him if he isn't careful.

I'm actually a little surprised to hear that since Jersey's oceans were colder than usual this summer. Ocean is a big place though, I suppose.

tons of upwelling this year in the ocean made it cooler
