Actually, I should run his ass down, since he can't sue for shtein if a car is involved.  Lawyer told me that the family of someone who was hit and killed while they were walking on a sidewalk got a nice punitive judgment from a jury, which was reduced to $10k on appeal.

Anyway, he'll be in jail for a good while, so I'll have to wait.

MMH was the one with the messed up car.  Mine is an '03 Honda Pilot, which was the conclusion of a brief "thinking about a Minivan" conversation.  The other was a Dodge Ram 1500 (not a F150 as I previously thought). 

Impressive was the guy who was doing the damage estimate, pulling out a 4" square piece of tail light lens, and saying "You want a piece of the Ford that hit you...".  Then he looks at it, and says "are you sure it was a Ford?"

TiVo Knows All

Entertainment blog TMZ reports that TiVo has hit on sure way to predict who's going to win -- and who's going to lose -- the biggest contest in the land. Yes, I'm talking about "American Idol."

TiVo anonymously monitors usage statistics in a pool of 20,00 of its users. The company can tell when viewers replay an "Idol" contestants' songs, and when viewers skip over it. Replaying, obviously, is a good sign. If people are fast-forwarding through your songs, you're going home.

TMZ says TiVo has predicted the "Idol" loser for four weeks straight. And tonight, TMZ says, TiVo's method predict that 24-year-old Syesha Mercado is going home.

Thanks, TiVo! But can you just tell us who's going to win so we can all go back to reading books?

Parents Fight Over Which Gang Toddler Should Join

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- A couple fighting about which gang their 4-year-old toddler should join caused a public disturbance that resulted in the father's arrest, Commerce City police said Thursday.

On Saturday, Joseph Manzanares stormed into the Hollywood Video store where his girlfriend worked, threatened to kill her and knocked over several video displays and even a computer, Commerce City police Sgt. Joe Sandoval said.

After he ran out of the store, police were called and the 19-year-old was arrested at his home.

His girlfriend told police that they had been arguing about the upbringing of their son and which gang he should belong to. The teen mother, who is black, is a member of the Crips. Manzanares is Hispanic and belongs to the Westside Ballers gang, the woman said.

"They have different ideas on how the baby should be raised. Basically, she said they cannot agree on which gang the baby would 'claim,'" Sandoval said.

Manzanares was charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, and domestic violence. He was transported to the Adams County Detention Facility.

On Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to a year of probation. The misdemeanor harassment charge was dropped.

I have to agree with the mom here.  Gotta go Crips.  I'm glad she hanged tough on it.

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Traffic was backed up and police were called to control the crowd after a Wilmington gas station accidentally set the pump price at 35 cents a gallon.

The Wilmington Star-News reported Friday that hundreds of drivers flooded a BP station for the cheap gas after the price dropped around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Station employee Shane Weller said the price for premium gasoline was supposed to be $3.35 a gallon. He complained that customers paid the cheaper price all day without saying a word.

It was all the extra traffic that led station employees to the mistake around 6 p.m. They found it after calling their district manager, looking for permission to changing the price as a way of stemming the flow of customers.

No shtein?  After being gouged twice a week on ridiculous prices, while oil companies make billions in profit each quarter, people wouldn't step up and do the right thing?

I kow the station owner is the one being screwed here, but I can completely understand why people may mis-direct their anger.
