All Givens has over Brown is experience?  I think he has a little more than that, PG.

I think Reggie is going to be an excellent professional receiver but adding a guy like Givens would have been a better choice, IMO.  Not only does he have better stats than Gaffney, he also has a wealth of experience playing in big games including multiple Super Bowls.

Argue all you want about Brown versus Givens because I think Reggie has tremendous potential.  Arguing Givens versus Gaffney is silly, though.
And Phreak, I said the exact same thing about what this means between the lines earlier in the thread.  :yay

And I said it in the second post of the thread.   :P

chad johnson?  :-D

anyway, the eagles ARE going into this season with reggie brown as their #1 wr....they've been conditioning the fanbase for that scenario since midway through last season when aikman mentioned reid's comments about brown being a #1 during the gint's broadcast.

Im glad they atleast made some sort of effort to bring in another WR.   I dont like the one year deal nonsense.  If the Eagles had any real confidence in Jabar Gaffney they would have locked him up for longer.  And dont give me this "they just want to see if he is any good" nonsense.  They could have easily locked him up for a longer period of time without suffering anything other than a minimal cap hit if they wanted to release him.

QuoteI personally would love to see the Eagles make a deal for Walker and our WR corp would look VERY solid.

I'd go a step further and say they'd have a shot at being the best 1-2-3-4-5 WR group in the league if Walker is healthy. And they'd be a really young group to boot. But relying on Brown to be a number one this year is wishful thinking and without a true number one its hard for a group of WRs to really flourish.

QuoteIf Reggie turns out like I think he will (the next Chad Johnson) then we might just be alright.

Phreak, I love you man, but this is the most homerific thing I've ever read. Ever. Think about that. I mean that's impressive.

Yeah Phreak... your my man, 100 grand... you did stretch that one a little bit.  :-D

Sure we all HOPE he's the next Chad... but nobody expects it.  ;)

What this means to me is that the Eagles are trying to sell us a bill of goods.

Again.

God, the front-office ass-kissing in this forum is intolerable even to me and I'm about as bad as it gets when being an apologist for those bastiches.

It's a lateral move at best, Mo.

Givens would have been a huge upgrade over anyone on the roster except Reggie.

If the Eagles get Walker, then I'll be more than happy to retract what I said, but arguing that Gaffney is a better choice than Givens is homertastic to the extreme.

Holy crap...talk about twisting around what I said. I think you need to go back and reread my post, psycho boy.  ::)

but i don't think that they would've been signed for the same spot.  i think Gaffney is the #3 WR and Givens would've been the #2.

with Gaffney, i can see them using Brown and Pinkston (IF healthy) in 2 wideout sets, and then moving Brown to the slot and Gaffney out wide when they use 3 wide-out sets.
