You may even be talking about it in the Darren Howard section...but I like Trent Cole and do not think Kearse is a threat at DE. What are the possibilities we turn Kearse into an outside linebacker full time? Is that even possible? Barber, Trotter and Kearse wouldn't sound bad at all. Question is...the money he makes...probably too much for a linebacker. Anyways...I was just fantasizing....just like I was about the Eagles shoring up the o-line.

Why don't you think Kearse is a legitimate threat at DE?

Now that teams can't double team him, I think he'll return to his past form, Chuggie.

ditto. This whole "kearse sucks" crap is getting old. That line was complete GARBAGE last year and he was doubled and worse all season because there were no other threats on that line.

Most of last season is a painful blur, but I remember more Mamulas then double teams.

Uhhhh I hate to say it, but you could write for ES with that material. Kearse did suck last year, as did 99.9%  of the team.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Yes, EVERYONE sucked last year. But Kearse does not SUCK in general.

A little help on that line and he'd have been fine.

Kearse is overpaid. OVERPAID! CASH OVER CAP!
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Cheese graters and wood rasps are a lot more fun than people think. You should try them out.

I honestly believe last season was an aberration where Kearse is concerned.  He had almost no help on the d-line.  Walker sucked ass, Hollis was useless, and Cole and Patterson were just getting their feet wet, so of course teams double and triple-teamed #93.

Seriously, with Howard coming in, the line automatically becomes one to be reckoned with.  And I don't think they're done with it yet.  The DT position will also be reinforced either in the draft or via free agency.  It's going to happen and it's not a question of whether it will happen, it's only a question of when.

I just see Kearse as a tall, fast linebacker. I consider Jason taylor more of an end than Kearse. Even the first season with us....its not that he sucks....its just that I don't see him being productive on the field as a DE. Now, if he could be a 4th LB that could drop into coverage or rush the line....that seems to fit him better. It's like Kearse is his own position. Definitely doesn't do real damage or scare anyone at DE...well...it seems to be that anway since last season.

Howard gives them a legit DE opposite of Kearse.

Come to think of it, this starting tandem is the first time in years that the Birds have had two studs at DE. Not since the Simmons and Reggie days have we seen this.

However, in order for Howard and Kearse and Cole to get it done the Birds HAVE TO get another DT or two that can push the middle.

If a QB can step up in the pocket, no one will get sacks.

That is why we saw a lot of Mamula's from Kearse last year. He'd beat his guy and then get the edge and when he'd get there the QB was stepping up and throwing the ball.

Push up the middle = no room for QB = sacks for DEs = Happy Eagles fans.

If we wouldve given fatass Simon the gabillion dollars he wanted, we couldve still had this problem.
