John Clayton on ESPNews said it's still between the Eagles and Browns...

i just saw that too...he was on 5 minutes ago & said he expects a deal to be made this afternoon with either the eagles or browns.

They often recycle the ESPNEWS stuff for a few half hours until they feel like adding new news.  Couldn't Clayton have been saying that actually a few hours ago?

Hey, another great job by the Eagles FO!  It's not like you're $25 mil under the cap or anything.  :-D

Browns | Contract update: L. Bentley
Sat, 11 Mar 2006 10:48:13 -0800

Sean Jensen, of the Pioneer Press, reports Cleveland Browns OL LeCharles Bentley's new deal with the Cleveland Browns is a six-year, $36 million contract. Bentley had serious talks with the Philadelphia Eagles, but the Browns put the heat on him, offering a contract that includes $12.5 million in guaranteed money up front and averages $6 million per year.

wasn't the contract the Eagles were offering 17 million guarenteed up front?

Do you even know what "under the cap" means?

Calling it right on the $ since day one.

i guess those reports were wrong too, otherwise why would he give up 5 million guarenteed

It might be a little too obvious, but it could be the Ohio State education.

That's the first thing in this thread that makes sense.

Hindsight is 20/20 so you are just going to have to take my word for this, but ever since free agency initially got delayed, I always had this little feeling that something would happen and we wouldn't get Bentley. Maybe it was just me being paranoid, but I thought it was going to be the Vikings that would steal him away. That's just the way it is with Philly sports. All wrong all the time.

QuoteIf you wanted to spend your Saturday hunched over a computer screen waiting for some good news to flash on the screen, well, you will wait through at least this first day. As of Noon on Saturday, there is nothing cooking.

We'll judge later if that is a good thing or a not-good thing.

And the spin begins.
