The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the team has promoted Howie Roseman to vice president of football administration. Roesman had served as the team's director of football administration since 2003.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

There was no "VP" of Football Admin before now.  Change in title and more money for Banner's right-hand man.

It shows me they aren't going to match that Hutchinson offer, which I think is stupid. I'd much rather match Hutchinson than spend that cash on Peterson who hasn't been at his all-pro level the last couple years.

I think if the Eagles do the necessary moves they can get back to the Superbowl. Seattle doesn't impress me.

Well they impress the hell out of me, remember the ass kicking we got last season? Well they've kept their entire team intact and have improved immensly, we haven't. Only hope is they buy into the whole SuperBowl hangover thing.

From the NFL.com article:

QuoteEven with Peterson's mega-contract, the Seahawks still have the wherewithal to match the $49 million offer sheet Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutcinson signed with the Vikings. The Seahawks had to announce their decision by tonight at midnight ET.

And they are not done there. Still in place is a contingent deal for defensive end John Abraham, whom the Seahawks have the exclusive negotiating rights for from the New York Jets in exchange for Seattle's first-round pick.

Already this offseason, the Seahawks have re-signed NFL MVP running back Shaun Alexander and defensive tackle Rocky Bernard.

But now, the Seahawks are bolstering their defensive line, landing Peterson tonight and former Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Russell Davis over the weekend.

Yeah but they kicked our ass with Mike McMahon giving them 3 TD's, Moats coughing it up, and a makeshift offensive line. It was a friggin' pee wee squad they hammered. Big deal.

Here is my take on the FA situation:

For the past 5 years (with the exclusion of last year which i think was an abberation due to injury and the TO situation) Andy et. al. have brought a very high quality product to the field. I have a trust in the organization. I think these football experts have a ton more knowledge about football and personell than we and the media experts have. Think about it, the vast majority of these so-called media experts would love to be GM's or coaches, not one has that job. It is easy to criticize. Take Merrill Hoge. He says every year the Eagles won't make the playoffs. Sure, we all notice, but does the rest of the national audience? Of course not. Now when he was finally correct last year, he comes off as a genius. So when all these media idiots and message board idiots keep saying the Birds can't compete without this free agent or this draft pick, I know in my heart that the Reid brain trust knows what it is doing. If we don't have a quality product this year, I may need to adjust my attitude. If you read some of SUF's old post from years ago, he consistently said, "trust in the system". He seems to be a very wise man. We should all listen to his wisdom. That all being said, we really need to sign Runyan.
Alert, alert. Look well at the rainbow. The fish will be running very soon.

SunMo

wow, a team that last the Super Bowl actually trying to improve itself?  what a novel idea.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

How about seeing what the guy can do or can't do in his new situation before saying he's not gonna step it up?

hes been in the league going on five years and has essentially done the same thing every year...35-50 catches and a couple toucdowns a year...and dont give me well that was on texans...as if the eagles offense has a history of turning out great wr's...andre johnson is better than any wr andy reids offense has ever spit out

so what is going to magically cause him to 'step it up' this year

He won't be with the Texans. Honestly, you might not like it but being on a different team and having a different supporting cast can do wonders for a player's career.

This thread has gotten ridiculous. I know it's Tuesday but damn. Everyone is doom and gloom. No one said that Gaffney is going to be Jerry Rice but he can be a solid target. And, out of this weak WR class, he was a very good pickup for the coin.

Do you honestly believe that Randle El was not over paid? He got a lunatic offer. I wonder how many are just sold that he's a great WR because he got such a huge contract, from the taterskins nonetheless.

Massive coin does not equal great production.

By virtue of the Eagles getting healthier they are instant contenders for the division and conference. Do you people remember what our roster looked like in the 2nd half of last season??!

Just try and put somethings in perspective, this same roster has been together for awhile, and if all those arguments for continuity apply to all the other teams people cited, it should apply to the Eagles too using the same logic.

I'm not saying the Eagles are going to be perfect next year, but I think there are a lot of reasons to be optimistic and feel like they can be contenders.

If he steps it up he'll get his deal and we'll have a Brown & Gaffney duo. But if he bombs out we move on and there is no long term deal to worry about.

hes not gonna step it up...he doesnt have the physical tools to be able to elevate his game to some unheard of level that hes been unable to find thus far in his four year career...hes not that fast doesnt have great size and isnt overly strong

he is not a long term solution at the #2 wr spot

hes freddie mitchell without the side show...which isnt a bad thing by any means...but wr's like them are a dime a dozen...that said i think they could do a lot worse than having gaffney as their #3 guy down the road...provided they have a legit #1 or (2) twos

How about seeing what the guy can do or can't do in his new situation before saying he's not gonna step it up?

He's 6'1 205, that is not big enough for a WR? I think he would be considered on the larger side of many WR's. That's one of his better attributes.

He does have pretty good speed too, he runs good routes, and he has good hands and rarely drops the ball.

He won't be a gamebreaker, but at least I think he can be consistent and is better than the depth in our WR from #2 down.
