My only thought on this move is that it's a start.

Not much more they can do except look at outright cuts.....at least until this whole CBA crap is dealt with and FA starts.

Oh, I know.  I was just saying that if they don't at least make a solid effort to acquire at least one more (and less injury-prone) LB in free agency, they are not giving the position its due diligence.

That said, Barber was the best WIL we've had in Philly in quite some time, so if he's even 80-85% of the player he was then, he's a massive upgrade over the likes of Simoneau and Adams.  But it's still only a start.

Diligence... love that word.  Thanks, FF.

I don't feel comfortable relying on a guy who's played in 11 games in the last 2 years into a position where we desperately need an upgrade.  If they've got plans to add more at the position, cool.  If this is it... not so cool.

Wait, so let me get this straight...  if the Eagles let a guy with an extensive injury history go, he's injury-prone and they made a great move by not making an investment in him.  If they sign one, he's obviously just had bad luck and they're getting a great deal.  Right?

Tell me you didn't think the Raiders were screwing themselves by taking Burgess last year.

Not at all.

My point is that for every single person bitching about how the Eagles made the HUGE mistake to let Burgess go.....those same people will bitch about Barber coming back here before he ever plays a game.

I don't think they made a mistake with Burgess... I wouldn't have kept him around either for the money he left to take.

I agree, but we're in the minority on here.

Burgess had no full season with the Eagles. I thought Burgess would get hurt yet again after the big payday da Raiders game him. I guess the Eagles think McCoy isnt anything other than a backup or they wouldnt even bother with Barber.

ice grillin you

burgess was a potential ladened young stud who showed as much when he was healthy

barber is old even if he didnt have an injury history...with that history hes a fossil...even if barber never gets hurt again hes still a questionmark...when healthy in kc he wasnt that good

look this all depends on a) what kind of money they give him b) what their expectations of him are....until we find that out we cant really critique this move

did i also mention that he isnt even an eagle yet

good point, it may be that he's the "keep the seat warm" guy for McCoy.

but either way, they still need a SAM

Well, they might have to settle for a SHAWN.
