Assuming the first five that come off the boards are as expected, if the Birds were to trade up, who do you take?

TE Vernon Davis Maryland
6 (54.5%)
LB AJ Hawk Ohio State
3 (27.3%)
DT Haloti Ngata Oregon
2 (18.2%)

Understood. I'm not arguing that a well rounded TE would be somehow worse than a receiving only TE, my point is that LJ was putting up monster numbers last year and backup TEs are usually not receiving specialists, especially in a pass-first offense. He makes sense as a starter on this team and frankly, if bringing in a second TE or rotating a blocking TE in 'telegraphs' the Eagles' running plays, big farging whoop. Everyone on Earth knows that the Steelers/Broncos/Falcons are going to run the ball. Does that stop them?
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

No, it doesn't... because all three of those teams start TE's that are semi-capable blockers.

I see your point... I really do.  But L.J. frustrates me, because I think he does more things wrong than he does right, but as long as his receiving #'s keep up, Joe Average Fan will blame Andy Reid or McNabb or others along the offensive line for the inconsistent running game, when I think L.J. is a big part of the problem.

Farg it all.  Get Dan Campbell.

For real, Dan Campbell is exactly who I want.

I, like everyone, recognize LJ's faults, but if he can actually have a counterpart who can block and provide hands when called upon I think that helps the offense tremendously and it doesn't have to cost the team its first round pick. The End.

I think Mario Williams may fall past the 5th pick now that the Packers re-signed Kampman. I'd trade our 1st, 2nd, and a 4th (since we have a bunch) for him. I might even consider adding an extra 4th.

I don't think Mike Nolan would pass him up at #6, if he even falls that far.  He would be perfect to play DE in a 3-4.

Well hopefully we'll sign Howard and won't have to worry about it.
