yea i didnt mean to ask if they are equivalent to using them in a studio or even on a home stereo...

I know you didn't...but you did mention studio-type headphones, and I was trying to give a little bit of background reference.

but with an ipod you can get them as loud as you would ever need?

Absolutely.

BTW, I also have a pair of old AKG K240s that I rarely use now, since I don't normally use heaphones at home, and they're just too damned big for work. But they are definitely studio-quality headphones. I might try 'em out on the iPod, just to see how well it works.

Quote from: ice grillin you on February 15, 2006, 10:05:43 AMdo you get maximum capability out of them when used on an ipod...cause with many cd walkmen they arent able to use monitor headphones to their maximum output and the volume ends up being low n ish

I don't have a problem with volume, but the headphones aren't exactly studio quality..they were $25 or something like that. I'd imagine true studio headphones with big fat wires offer a lot more resistance, so the weak iPod signal would probably get squashed.

Now for the question you've been silently begging us to ask, so you can show us how wiggy rolls: what headphones do you use? Are you sporting genuine studio quality, super expensive headphones, like a jackass? I suspect you are?
Bigger wires=less resistance!

After much deliberation I felt it may be a good idea to take my ipod back to the store.  So I exchanged it for a new one.  And while I was there I decided to purchase a new computer since I've been in the market for one anyway.  So I've got my new computer and my new ipod and I'm feeling pretty good about myself.

So I get home and hook up the new computer.  Everything's running just fine on it and I hook it up to the net.  So far, so good.  Then I install the software for the ipod.  Good to go.  Then I plug in the ipod to charge it up.  Still good.

So the ipod's been charging for about an hour now.  No problems so far.  I clicked on the itunes icon to see what that's all about and it keeps shutting down.  In the error report I get it tells me the most common solution to my problem is that I need to remove QuickTime from my computer.  So I go to the add/remove programs menu and there's no QuickTime there to be removed.

There's a QT icon on my desktop so I click on it and I get a message that says QT failed to initialize and to make sure it's installed properly on my computer.

I don't get it.  I've got one window telling me to remove it and another telling me to make sure it's there.  WTF?

Any suggestions?
