I'm betting the Birds drop T.O between now and the start of FA. I think they are going to be so aggressive, they are going to want every dollar to sign as many guys at the jump as possible.

Stop hanging around with Skinsfan. It's made you weird.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Does anyone think somewhere down the line the Eagles will sign a FB? This is a very strong FA class for FBs, and they usually are a cheap position to fill.

Strong, Beasley, Richardson, I think are all FAs and those 3 are among the best in football.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.

Mack Strong or Richardson would be outstanding. I don't even want to get my hopes up about that whole disaster, though. I'll be stunned if Reid makes any effort to upgrade that position. He seems to not notice how much better Westbrook is with a monsterous FB blocking for him...
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Normally I would agree with that, but in this offseason so far anything goes. I think the interest in Bentley has a lot to do with Andy wanting to run the football more. I believe him when he says he wants to run it a lot more. I think he got some sense knocked into him. He won't turn into Cowher, but I think the passing will be cut down to 60%.

I'll believe it when I see it. My prediction is that the Eagles have some sort of tweener listed as the official FB in 2006. He'll see about 10% of the offensize snaps and won't carry the ball once.

Awesome.

QuoteMawae wonders why he was let go

Kevin Mawae was disappointed but not surprised when he learned last week something he'd begun to suspect for some time: The Jets' rebuilding project would not include him.

"I still believe that I'm probably the best guy on the market," Mawae said on a conference call with reporters yesterday, less than 24 hours after the Jets ended his eight-year run as their center.

"I guess people look down on 35-year-old centers who make the Pro Bowl six times."

Agent Mark Bartelstein said it didn't make any sense for Mawae to "go backwards" at this point in his career, a reference to the Jets' decision to start over on offense.

"There's nothing more that I'd love than to retire as a New York Jet," Mawae said. "My name has been known in New York for quite some time and I've been successful here.

" ... It's not about the money, but it's about winning a championship. From this point, I'm going to go to the team that gives me the best chance to win the Super Bowl."

Bartelstein said several teams called yesterday with interest, and one is believed to be the Eagles.

Mawae, regarded as the best center in the NFL for most of his time with the Jets, said he's fully recovered from the torn left triceps that ended his 2005 season.

Though he said he has no regrets and isn't angry, it's telling that a player of Mawae's caliber had only vague conversations with coach Eric Mangini about his future.

"We never talked about my contract," Mawae said. " ... He said he wants smart players willing to do the little things the right way. I thought I would be one of those guys, but I didn't fit in their plans."

I wonder if the Birds want both Mawae and Bentley....Bentley to guard, and Mawae at center, then Bentley taking over for Mawae once he is older? Doesn't make sense though, Mawae is older than Runyan, and I would think Runyan would be more important that an older center....
