The Andre Carter pickup was a good one, I'll give them credit. Good young pass rusher that wasnt overpaid. They did overpay for everyone else though.

Actually carter sucks, he never became the pass rusher we expected...shtein we gave derek smith some cash instead of him and smith sucks btw

He isnt a good fit for the 3-4 at all. He's a good DE.

And yes, Smith sucks. As T.O said "he's a vet that plays special teams."

:-D yup

but carter is still too small to get alot of sacks at DE in the 4-3. he always gets eaten up on the line. he was better off in the 3-4 where he could use his speed to rush the edge but he couldnt even do that.

the only thing good i get out of a skins win is papa johns free toppings for every TD they score.  double if they win.

large pizza w/ 8 toppings for $8.

double mushrooms
double sausage
extra cheese
onions
green peppers
bacon

PoopyfaceMcGee

When you have that many toppings, they don't actually put on extra cheese.

You'll want to store up that advice the next time the skins score 4+ TD's and win.  Week 6 is actually a real possibility.

Link to Skins beatwriter Jason LaCanfora's blog on the WP site.

He mentions the little spat that the ES grou (Art and a few others) had with Len Pasquarelli in the Tampa pressbox after the Skins won last year in the playoffs.

Quote

Hey there, saw the mention of the Len P confrontation. I was there. It was after the Tampa/Skins playoff game in Jan. Len is a real grouch, who tends to over-react is some of these situations, but in this case I would have to side with him. The taterskins have credentialed people from a message board, who, on their way out of the press box, start to make comments to Len and antogonize him while he is trying to do his job and writing on deadline.

This is our office, where we earn a living, and to mess with someone in that situation is way over the line. Len was at that stadium for probably 5 hours at least, and these guys pick the fight 2 hrs after the game while we are all trying to make deadline. It became a distraction for everyone around them.

I'm not sure too many pro sports organizations would in essence sanction that kind of behavior, but in this case the taterskins did. Did Len get way too fired up? Yes. Should he probably have just ignored it? yes. But it is also something he should have to worry about in a pro sports press box.
Thats my two pence, anyway/

And here's ART's response... :-D

Quote

Sheesh, Jason, are you actually worried about my behavior? I mean, how many mother effers do you drop in the press box, loud enough to carry several rows and sections?

Are you seriously suggesting that behavior is overly professional? You know me and you know I've never gotten engaged with anyone in the room in a confrontation or negative fashion. I'm very light hearted and polite to you and everyone you've ever seen me engaged with, even Len, who I couldn't GET to be quiet about it and had to keep telling HIM we didn't need to get into it there.

Heck, I seem to recall Michael Wilbon suggesting HE would confront Len next time he saw him in the press box and Len wrote on ESPN that it didn't happen. I think it's amusing you stick together, but, I suspect Michael Wilbon would endorse the kind of behavior he said he would engage in. Don't you :).

By the way....you can leave comments over there on the blog. :paranoid

And the thread on ES about the blog comment

And the original thread where Art brags about pissing Lenny P off after the game

PhillyPhreak54

A thread by tr1, who is the 3rd biggest homer there behind Art and Bubba, saying the Stallworth deal was a bad one

Nevermind the fact that Santana Moss and Donte Stallworth are pretty similar in the sense that both needed changes of scenery. Both are speed guys who have had issues with hamstrings and their hands were questioned.

ice grillin you

that stallworth thread is beyond explanation

One guys logical, informed response:

Let's look at this from a league-wide perspective and evaluate who so far made the best deal of the 5 big WR's who changed teams.

Walker has the most yds total but not the most per game but Denver also paid the most with an 06 2nd rd pick.

The next highest price was paid for a WR with 3 catches for 26 yds so far. He cost his team an 06 3rd and an 07 4th and 10M+ in guaranteed bonus money.

The next highest price was paid for Ashly Lelie who has 5 catches for 76 yds so far. Although Atlanta only gave up a back up player he was valued at a high 3rd rd pick in 07 by a 3rd team involved in the deal who just happens to be the team who paid a 3rd and 4th for the player with 3 catches for 26 yds. The back up RB this team picked up in this trade was inactive on Sunday.

The next highest price was paid for Stallworth who has averaged 111 yds per game in the 2 games in which he played. He cost a 4th in 07[which can become a 3rd if he is extended] and a back up LB who was making over 1M this year which gives him almost no trade value.

The lowest price was paid for Moulds who cost an 07 4th and is doing OK with about 120 receiving yds so far in 06.....Edit....I see Moulds was traded for the first pick in the 5th rd in the 06 draft. I doubt an offer of an 07 4th and Mark Simoneau would have landed the first pick in the 5th rd in 06 so it can be argued the Eagles paid a lower price for Stallworth than the Texans paid for Moulds.

It seems that judging by these extremely early returns there may be a big loser in this activity but I don't think at this point anyone can say it's the Eagles.

tr1's response to the above?

QuoteWhen you face a team with a defense, come back and we'll talk.

:-D What an ass.

WB36 comes back at tr1 with that pesky logic thing again:

Quote
Well, why should we discuss anything about the Eagles at all if this is going to be your cookie cutter response when facts are thrown in your face?

BTW, in week one, Stall was matched up against Dunta Robinson. Did Moss score this past week? Dunta was covering him....

Hold on a second.....HAS MOSS SCORED AT ALL THIS YEAR??!??!

Like I said in the preseason....I want to see Moss do it again. He has a history of one year hot, one year cold. Looks like he might have caught a cold.

ice grillin you

they faced the same texans team the skins just did and stallworth had by far the best game of any wr on either team
