Jacobs Absent

Nine players likely will not travel to Cincinnati for tomorrow night's game. Among them is wide receiver Taylor Jacobs.

Being inactive for an exhibition game hurts a player's chance to make the team, even for a fourth-year player such as Jacobs, who faces major competition at his position.

"It's not in my hands," Jacobs said. "I ran hard in practice."

Jacobs acknowledged that the difficult job of making the taterskins' roster has grown more difficult with this latest injury.

"I know it's going to be tough to make it here," he said. "I know I have the talent, it's just a question of getting the ball a little bit more."

Don't the Skins fans on here talk up Jacobs? lol

I would hope not, 90 percent of skins fans everywhere think Jacobs is a waste of a roster spot. I used to have faith that he might turn it around, but his chance has come and gone.  The coaches all say he's awesome in practice, but it's never translated into good game performances. Take him off our hands, we'd give him to you.

I happen to be a McCants fan. 

Each time they called on him last year, he produced...however, with Detmer and McMahon throwing to him, he didn't have much of a chance to show a lot.

i know the haters will attack me but how much do you wish the eagles had this guy...on this board i said a while back that this cat was the best safety in the nfl and would be one of the greats ever...like vernon davis dooks a cyborg

I don't wish the Eagles had him.  The Eagles have a pair of excellent safeties.  You're the only one with the unadulterated man-love for Sean Taylor.  Yes, he's a physical freak - strong and fast, with a nasty mean streak.  Yes, his ceiling is higher than Mike Lewis or Roy Williams, but he's a complete moron who will never reach his all-around potential for one reason or another.

He's basically the T.O. of safeties, except he's ALSO a thug.

When he was coming out of Miami I was a big fan of his but his first couple years in the league have been less than spectacular.  His play hasn't been terrible but he hasn't lived up to the hype either and his legal issues as well as on field antics haven't helped any.  It's not too late for him to turn things around but I've already labeled the guy as an idiot and won't lose any sleep if his nuts got severed by a bear trap.

hes already the best safety in the nfl....if he doesnt improve at all for the rest of his career he will be a hall of famer...if he does get better which he should then he could be the best ever at his position...so what exactly is his all around potential

and i actually cant stomach him as hes a taterskin and it makes me sick that they have a player as good as him but at the same time you have to acknowledge his greatness
