Saint Favre looking to be the talk of Super Bowl weekend

If he plays like he did last year, there's only a handful of teams that couldn't use him.

I know a few Packer fans, and I'm really enjoying watching their conflicting emotions about all this. I'm pretty sure a Packer fan I work with is going to come into work shooting if Favre signs with the Vikings.

Packers DT Johnny Jolly was busted for possession of 200 grams (a shteinload) of codeine. Now we know why Brett was 'getting the itch' to come back to GB.

I do think Johnny Jolly is an excellent name for a drug dealer though.

The saddest life of all is Brett Favre. Here's a guy with all the time and money in the world, who is revered as a hero by millions of people, and yet he's not happy unless he's playing the game. He's more addicted to football than painkillers. You know he's going to be a bigtime substance abuser once he can no longer physically play.

QuoteGREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers' general manager and coach don't plan to grant Brett Favre's request for his release. If he does rejoin the team, they told The Associated Press, it won't be as the starting quarterback.

And Favre is unlikely to accept a backup role, GM Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged Saturday in their first public comments since the 38-year-old Favre demanded his release this week.

A trade may be the best resolution, but Thompson and McCarthy declined to discuss that possibility. Thompson said he had not received any inquiries from other teams as of Saturday morning.

"We've communicated that to Brett, that we have since moved forward," Thompson said. "At the same time, we've never said that there couldn't be some role that he might play here. But I would understand his point that he would want to play."

When asked whether that role might be as a backup or coach, Thompson said: "not a coach."

Added McCarthy: "He did ask about that, though."

He needs his fix so bad, it's getting really disgusting.

I wonder if it is really all that far fetched that Favre could have gotten drugs from Jolly. If that came out it would sure be a spectacular twist on his soap opera.

The Pro Brett Rally had pretty much the opposite effect. Fail

for someone that is so 100% Packer for life, how does he feel about the 3-ring circus he's causing his "former" team? Its not something he would want if another player was doing this, abd you can bet he would voice out if that was the case.

Now every single player is going to have to field questions about that idiot all through training camp and beyond. I wish them well.

This thread should now be called 'Saint Farve looking to be the talk of the NFL.'

He doesn't care, he's is all about himself. He's had his knob slobbed so much be the media and the fans in Packerville that he can't even fathom the thought about what it's doing to the team or Aaron Rogers. It's making me respect  Rogers and the way he has handled it all.

Favre is such a good guy, showing up to Frank Winters induction to the Packers HOF. What a class act. We should all follow this exemplary lead of how to live our own lives.

QuoteMINOR LEAGUE TEAM MAKES FUN OF FAVRE
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 21, 2008, 12:46 p.m.

Four months ago, the news of Brett Favre's retirement was met with almost universal respect for the longtime Packers quarterback and future Hall of Famer.

But now that Favre is waffling about a comeback, that respect is, in some quarters, turning to ridicule.

Darren Rovell of CNBC reports that the Augusta GreenJackets, a Single-A baseball team, have become the first minor league team to make fun of Favre as a ticket promotion.

To poke fun at Favre as a flip flopper, the GreenJackets will give away a pair of flip flops to the first 100 fans at the team's August 4 game. They will also retire Favre's No. 4 jersey, and then un-retire it on August 5. Fan contests incorporating the Lambeau Leap as well as the "Strahan Sack" will be part of the festivities.

What does it all mean? Mostly, it's just a goofy and kinda funny minor league baseball promotion. But it's also a reminder that no matter what Favre ultimately decides to do, his inability to make up his mind about retirement has made him the butt of jokes across the country.

funny how you're hearing reports of Favre nixing the idea of a return now

could be speculation and he still comes back, but maybe winning the ESPY award, all the jokes, seeing himself on screen from young to old head hit home. When its all said and done, his wife is fly as shtein
