I think it has something to do with the spring semesters starting at schools. January 15th was the date to declare.

What I would like if the draft were today:

Greenway, White (never happen and he'd be a waste on the Birds anyway) or a top flight OL in the first round please. Flip the positions in the second round (LB or OL, whichever wasn't picked first). DT in the third. Depth on defense for the rest of the draft.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

The BIGSTUD

I don't want Tamba Hali. I don't like his size. I don't think he'll do much in the NFL. If we can't get Williams or Kiwanuka I'd pass on Hali.

It's tricky because I'd rather have Williams than Abraham, but if we can't trade up for Williams then it'll be too late to sign Abraham because the draft is in april. I'd rather them just get Abraham. It's doubtfil the Eagles could trade up to get Williams.

I like Greenway though. He'd be a nice pick.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Would love to see them get a chance at trading up for Williams, but it's unlikely.  If they stay at #14, how about Huff as a replacement for Dawk?  :-\

That'd be alright with me... as long as we've addressed the front 7 with FA's at that point.  Otherwise, I want that #1 pick to go to an immediate need.

Everything will hinge on what is done with free agency. If Reid were to pull off a trade for a guy like Witherspoon, and also pick up a decent DT, then I can easily see him going RB with the first pick (White would be niiiiiice). I really don't like the Reid staff's evaluation of college LBs and DEs. I'd rather go with a couple of trusted names for the meat of the defense.

No matter what happens in FA, I would bet $20 Reid does not go for a running back in the first round.

Any takers can PM me.

I don't think there's a chance in hell of him grabbing a RB in the 1st either.  I'm just saying that addressing DE/DT and OLB in FA before hand is the only way I wouldn't throw my remote through my TV if that were to happen.

i really don't like the Reid staff's evaluation of any position in the draft the past few years.

Birds can still draft a decent O lineman in the second round.  Someone like Lutui out of USC is a beast at 6-6 370.  He could play OG or OT.  HE should be available in second round.  I too am very worried we'll screw this pick up.

Uh, Patterson, Brown and Cole all contributed and started this year.
Andrews started all season long.

That's 4 starters in the past two years from the draft. Do you guys want every pick to turn into a pro-bowler? Effective starters is what the draft is for. Getting a pro-bowler out of it is a total crap shoot.

I'm sticking with my prediction of DB in the first round.

overall, i would say they evaluate the following positions rather well...

RB - Buckhalter, Moats, Westbrook, limited promise in perry
OL - Andrews, herremans (bryzinski and welbourn), some of the UDFA or castoff OL have also shown promise
DB

That wouldn't make a ton of sense but anything to get Lito to actually play like he means it.

I'd just like them to turn into Pro Bowlers before they leave for bigger contracts.
