So, we've finally gotten to see one full season of "the big kid" at play. Is he living up to expectations? Is the jury still out? Has his weight been a negative factor? Has he been manhandling defenses like people assured us he would? Was he worth a #1 draft pick and a trade up? Is he better than Mayberry was?

These are serious questions I have, as I'm terrible at evaluating the play of individual O-linemen. I can tell when the pass protection is breaking down and occasionally I'll notice a sweet block, but I admit that generally I'm too busy watching the skill positions to pay close attention to what's going on in the line. All I know is that he's drawn a hell of a lot of flags.

I'd start a similar thread about another certain #1 draft pick if we actually got to see him freakin' play at some point.

He still needs work. He doesn't finish off plays downfield. I'm not sure he gets out in front of screens fast enough. And the penalties ...

I can think of a couple times on screens or pulls that he just completely whiffed on his defender. Losing some weight might help him with his quickness.

He seems pretty solid once he locks up though.

if he gets to his proper weight...look out...he could be really good...i loved his comments that someone posted the other day where he said he was going to drop 40 lbs this offseason...but ill believe it when i see it

Pretty much everything GF said. His rookie year, when he was in better shape, from the few snaps I saw him play he would tear through defenders and get to the next level in a hurry. Judging from the comments he made after the 'Skins game about losing alot of weight, I think he knows he didn't play up to his potential.

Andrews had a reputation as a run blocking phenom and so I realize the Eagles style of play isn't exactly playing to his strengths. Hopefully he can lose the weight without also losing that ability to be a wall in the running game, which I think we will see more of next year.

Pretty well sums it up. He's one of the least of my concerns looking ahead to next year, although of course I'll anticipate improvement. But this was, for all intents and purposes, his rookie season, and he didn't do badly.

Bill, some of that issue is QB timing, Mikey Mac is just horrible. He seems a bit slow coming off the ball, again some of that can be attributed to the cadence. He is an absolute mauler when locked up in the run. His future is phenomenally bright. Mayberry was more consistent but Andrews is actually a rookie. The jury is out, but he will undoubtedly develop into a Probowl quality OG. I think he would have a "short arm" problem if moved outside to tackle though.

Domination when he drops 40 l b's. He's 385 ish? Good god. Still has problems with 'juke' Dt's. I'll sacrifice a slower G for a better run G. I think he could be great at both. He said his weight wouldn't be an issue and it was. His singing has gotten better though. No way to I ever see him moving to T.
