Thoughts on Jamaal Jackson?

I like him. He's got more size and that is the biggest plus over Hank.

The one thing he needs to work on is staying focused on the snap count. Too many false starts for my liking. And he needs to stay healthy. Get rid of the injury prone tag.

Every year... 32 teams evaluate players' talent based on 0 NFL starts. A few starts is MORE than enough to judge a player's current skill set and what they need to work on. Especially a position like Center where the guy touches the ball every single snap... and you get to see him use his strength, leverage and his brain in determining his line calls.

I can already see that Jackson is a much more physical center than Fraley is. He moves people backwards, which is something Fraley rarely did/does... making him an asset in the running game. The big thing that he needs to work on at this point is like others have already said... his false starts and illegal procedure penalties... which can be fixed. Jackson has the tools to be a quality starter for us. That much can be seen right here and now.

as for jackson i have to assume he is the eagles next center...reid obviously places no emphasis on the position and will just move jackson in over fraley as he did fraley over miller and try to surround him with superior lineman

I wish that AR had waited longer though before locking up Lito, Sheldon and Mike Lewis. That way we could have kept Troy, Bobby and gave Bishop and extension. Those damn kids got all in the way of a really good thing.

Im fine with JJ. I havent liked Fraley for awhile now. He needs to work on the snap count false starts along with the injury prone tag he has, much like Phreak pointed out.

He isnt as good as pass blocking as Fraley but loads better in the run game, especially a 3-4 defense.

JJ wasn't nearly consistent enough in the starting role. I thought he got badly beaten several times on jumped snap counts. Could that be a QB problem? It probably is. I have coveted Hartings for quite some time now. We really need to solidify several slots on the O-line. If anyone can recall, I was against letting Mayberry walk last off-season(I saw him as a very valuable back-up). We need to sign Tra and Runyan, draft a Center or Guard in the top 15 and sign a top FA o-lineman.

need to see him play with starters before any final assumptions are made but it looks like fraleys out of a job.

you can evaluate raw talent at this point no more.

you also cannot always fix false starts and penalty's through a player if he's a dumb farging retard. hopefully he's not.

You know what I like. The idea of beating the taterskins with this ridiculously inexperienced and largely awful group of offensive players. That's what I like. I'll worry about whether or not I like Jackson around the draft or possibly in training camp. For right now, the idea of a Mike McMahon-led upset to keep the skins out of the playoffs gives me football wood like I haven't experienced since the last week of January.
