but yes when it comes to bball its pretty much new york chicago and philly

when it comes to the four professional teams its an eagles city but above all else philly is a basketball town and always will be

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

ice grillin you

no it isnt but you know less than nothing about any city

I like when you get all high and mighty and think you know everything. It turns me on.

god can he get any worse?

more people play hoops in ny, philly and chicago than any other sport. we dont need your socioeconomic guesses as to why. that interest doesnt always translate to attendance figures and tv ratings for the 76ers or nova.

if you lived in philly and werent from some hodunk delaware trailer park youd know this.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

lol again that's because it's easy to go down to any park, or recreational area, and find people to play pick up ball. That doesn't make everyone that does it die hard basketball fans/lovers. Even the whiteys in whitetown USA probably play basketball more than any other sport. No one actually cares any bit about basketball in this area anymore, and it has become the most fairweather fan base in the town. Sure, when a local team is doing good, the casual fan will come back and cheer but no one gets pissed when the teams suck like they do when the Eagles lose or the Phillies blow one. Because no. one. cares.

as i said last week three of the top four college teams in the country have at least two philly kids in their rotation

high school basketball is epic in the city...high school football not so much

college basketball vs college football in the city is pretty much self explanatory

oh but i forgot the sixers are in a funk right now so the city is a football town

jesus ignorance annoys me

Philly's got a lot of good boxers too. People still don't care.

not that your point makes any sense anyway because philly has always been a monumental basketball city eclipsed as weve said by only ny and maybe chicago

but anyway philly has very few good boxers right now

you really hate intelligence dont you

lol who cares how many good basketball players come from here (just like boxers...)....the point is no one cares about either sport anymore. People can play it, people can be great at it, doesn't mean the general populous gives a farg. Philly cares about its basketball teams like it cares about the Union. it doesn't. If Nova wins it all this year they might be able to get a long term buzz going but more than likely by April it'll all be Phillies opening day and the Eagles draft plans again. Maaaaybe the Flyers playoff position.

i really dont even know where to go with you...youre a pasty trashy kid from delaware who hates basketball and watches eagles games with 75 year old american legion doods in some dusty warehouse

you know nothing about the city or its love of basketball...high school basketball is monsterous in the city....the big 5 speaks for itself and is known all over the country...the palestra is a chapel

to say no one in the city of philadelphia cares aboput basketball is probably the most off thing youve ever said and the competion for that title is to say the least lengthy

this is just...wow

philly ny and chicago are bball towns. no doubt. who cares 'how easy it is' to play them. its easy in texas too but they breathe football there. it aint that way in philly. the eagles are top dog and people play it but it dont come close to bball.

were not talking about interest in terms of pro and college teams. its about what people in the city love to play and do. and thats hoops. please stop trying to argue this.

Minus the hardcore fans of the high school and college teams, no casual fan gives a damn about them until it's tourny time. And that's only if they're any good.

Just because a lot of people play it doesn't mean people care about it in the city. 80% of the basketball fans int he area ae fairweather "if they're doing good, i'll watch"...the rest either attend the schools or really LOVE basketball.
