His 305 yards are already the most by an Eagles rookie since Victor Bailey had 545 in 1993. With two more catches, he'll have the most receptions by a rookie since Bailey's 41 in 1993. Brown, the Eagles' second-round pick out of Georgia, shares the lead among NFC rookies with Vikings receiver Troy Williamson. Only two rookies — both in the AFC — have more touchdown catches than Brown, Chris Henry of the Bengals and Matt Jones of the Jaguars, both with four.

Brown's 305 receiving yards lead all NFC rookies and rank third in the NFL, behind only the Browns' Braylon Edwards (384) and Jacksonville's Jones (331).

From 1994 through 2004, the Eagles drafted six receivers somewhere in the first four rounds — Chris T. Jones, Todd Pinkston, Na Brown, Gari Scott, Freddie Mitchell and Billy McMullen. Those six averaged 91/2 catches for 122 yards as rookies and combined for two touchdowns

With Owens out of the picture, the Eagles will rebuild their receiving corps next year around Brown, Lewis and Pinkston and perhaps a big-ticket free agent.

It's been a long, long time since a home-grown receiver has become a star for the Eagles. The last receiver they drafted to either have a 1,000-yard season or reach the Pro Bowl was Barnett, a third-round pick back in 1990.

That was 15 years and four head coaches ago.

"I grew up about an hour and a half away from Reggie in Georgia and I remember hearing about him in high school — it was always, "Hey did you hear about that kid Reggie Brown?' " Eagles cornerback Rod Hood said. "He already had that reputation back then. He was big.

"I played against him twice in college and you could tell how good he was going to be. He was fast, ran good routes, just real confident. You knew he was going to play on Sundays.

"Now, he's just more polished. He was a little raw in college, like everybody. You can just see him getting better all the time, every day. He's going to be a great one."

Wahoo, with his 300 yards and 2 TDs, he's already in the lofty company of Victor Bailey?! Amazing. We can only hope he can keep up Bailey as his career progresses. If he quadruples that TD output in the remaining 5 games, he will be right up there with Arkansas Fred and C-Dog Williams.

This stuff is a bit of a reach. I want to see him be something special, but I haven't seen anything but a few promising moments this year, and didn't expect much more. This team hasn't had a legitimate #1 receiver aside from Owens, since Mike Quick and Harold Carmichael. Sadly, I don't see that changing anytime soon. I hope it does, but until I am tempted to pick him off the waiver wire for my own fantasy team, I'd say it isn't much more than hopefull thinking.

Brown was completely neutralized by Al Harris, so I'll reserve judgment on his awsumness.

I don't think he drew Al much at all yesterday. He was on Ahmad Carroll which is bad because Carroll blows. However, the QB play had something to do with that too.

I agree.  McMahon sucked ass but at least he didn't turn the ball over plus all of the Eagles receivers seemed to have the dropsies again yesterday.

Either he's got Roger Clemens-like velocity on his throws or the receivers simply aren't focusing on catching the ball.  I'm fairly certain the latter applies in this case.

Cmon dude #86 Fred Barnett was awesome. Fryar was nice too. Omit Fryar if you want since he played his prime in NE, but Freddy B was awesome.

I still think Chris T. Jones had all the makings of being a very good number 1.  6-3 210, guy had 70 catches his second year in the league.  I don't recall what injury he had the forced him out of football??

Based on what exactly?   

Rookies take a while to learn the offense, IGY.  Reggie has shown more than flashes thus far.  He's clearly got the ability and physical attributes to be a star wideout in the NFL.
