I want a golden toilet. Think the NFLPA can hook that up for me?

Why?

Because my ass rules and I want to treat it right. I would get platinum fronts for it if I had the dough.

You rock

QuoteEagles agree: Too little, too late
Some ex-teammates sorry to see Owens go, but they support Reid's decision.

INQUIRER STAFF WRITER

Reaction to the end of Terrell Owens' year and a half tenure with the Eagles and his subsequent apology was fairly consistent in the locker room at the NovaCare Complex today.

Some former teammates were sad to see him go, but they supported head coach Andy Reid and team management's decision to set Owens free and to not reinstate him following his public mea culpa.

"It seemed sincere," said defensive tackle Hollis Thomas. "It's too little too late, though."

The T.O. saga continues today as a report on ESPN.com has a "key union official" from the NFL Players Association saying that Owens still has a good shot of returning to the field this season.

The players union will make the case that Owens should be returned to the roster exactly as he was before he was suspended for four games. It is also expected that arbitrator Richard Bloch will be asked to reduce the financial penalty Owens is facing.

Owens' grievance hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18. The union will argue that the punishment assessed - a four- game suspension, plus deactivation for the conclusion of the season - was excessive.

Some of the players agreed the punishment fit the crime. They also said that had Owens delivered his apologies on Saturday, he would be preparing for Monday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys with them today.

"I stand behind (Eagles management) 100 percent," said cornerback Sheldon Brown. "I don't know how much a man can take.

"I think Andy's been fair, he's given him a lot of opportunities. I'm pretty sure if (Owents) would have given us that apology when he had the opportunity before we went to Washington then he would still be here today."

Last week, Owens gave a sit-down interview with an ESPN.com reporter, criticizing quarterback Donovan McNabb and the Eagles organization for a lack of class. The Eagles offered him a chance to get back in their good graces if he made the necessary public and private apologies.

In the team's eyes, Owens gave a half-hearted apology on Friday that was supposed to include a direct apology to McNabb. And then on Saturday, he refused to comply after they asked him to apologize again.

They suspended him indefinitely later Saturday and the day after Sunday night's loss to the taterskins, Reid, saying there was a long list of actions detrimental to the team, announced that Owens would not return to the team again.

"Donovan is the franchise player here," Brown said. "We built this team around him. We're going to go as far as he takes us, so we all have to be behind him and that's all 52."

McNabb was not available to the media today to comment on the series of events this week related to Owens. He will be part of tomorrow's scheduled press conferences that begin at 11:30 a.m. with head coach Andy Reid.

None of the players, however, questioned the sincerity of Owens' apology that he delivered yesterday from outside his Moorestown, N.J. home.

As professional athletes, those who love the game and know what it means to them, several players were able to play amateur psychologist and sympathize with Owens' genuine request for forgiveness.

"As a football player, when you take football away from someone a lot of things change," said tight end L.J. Smith. "You never miss something until it's gone. Right now he's missing it and I think what he said was sincere."

It's hard to dispute the fact that the Eagles product on the field won't be better off in the immediate future without Owens, who led the team in every receiving category. Rookie wide receiver Reggie Brown, who had five catches for 94 yards and a touchdown in replace of Owens against Washington, will be a regular starter now and Greg Lewis will slide up as the No. 1 receiver.

Lewis will miss Owens, who he said was a friend and a mentor. But he also said it's back to business and back to the business of winning football games.

"I never really thought it was a distraction, per se, for myself," Lewis said. "But we have to come in and do what we're supposed to do each week regardless of what is going on outside of football."
"Oh, yeah. They'll still boo. They have to. They're born to boo. Just now, they'll only boo with two Os instead of like four." - Larry Andersen

ESPN is reporting that the NFL Grievance hearing scheduled this week in New York, has been moved to the Eagles Novacare Complex, to facilitate testimony by Andy Reid, Donovan McNabb, and other players. Hmmm ..... Rosenpuke, TO, Reid, McNabb, Douglas all in the same room. Sounds like a party.

No Linky yet.

ESPN should put that on pay per view, they'd make a fortune.
