QuoteEagles sign fullback, receiver to practice squad

Inquirer staff reports

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have signed fullback Ben Miller and wide receiver Robert Redd to the practice squad.

Miller, who is 6-feet 3-inches tall and weighs 265 pounds, originally was signed as a rookie free agent by Cleveland in 2002 and was allocated to play in NFL Europe this past spring.

While playing for Hamburg, the 26-year-old Miller posted 10 catches for 164 yards and served as the Sea Devils long snapper.

A native of Rocky River, OH, Miller was a two-year starter at left tackle for Air Force, where he completed his two-year service commitment in 2004. He is currently a member of the Air Force Reserve.

Redd had been a member of the Eagles practice squad earlier this season until he was released on September 27. A native of Dayton, OH, Redd signed with the Eagles on Feb. 10, 2005, and was allocated to play with Berlin in NFL Europe.

6'3 and 265, and even if he's brought up from the practice squad we still won't run the ball.

Hold on... signing a FB to play FB?  This sucks.  He better have some kind of LB experience.

What about Center experience?  He has long snapper skillz.  They've got to put Bartrum out to pasture sooner or later.

You think maybe the fact he had 10 catches in NFLEURO caught Rieds eye? ;)

General_Failure

Reid's probably thinking "At 6'3 McNabb can't possibly overthrow him on that FB dumpoff I call every game."

Let's hope he has 5' 10" arms for the eventual worm burner.

Do you guys think this is the sign of Parry's end? I mean why else would they just sign a FB? It's not like Parry got injured.

Maybe down the road but not anytime soon.  The guy's gotta learn the playbook and Parry will at least be around long enough until Miller proves he's ready for the job.
