Bucs trade for Rattay

Also heard that the Chargers have traded an undisclosed draft pick and QB Cleo Lemon to the Dolphins in exchange for AJ Feeley. Looks like Feeley will be coming back to Philly this week.

Quarterback trades:

AJ Feeley to the Chargers.
Cleo Lemon to the Dolphins.
Tim Rattay to the Bucs.

I wasn't quite sure if it was new thread worthy, but yeah... pretty exciting.

Sounds to me like Rivers is gone. Why else would they want Feeley? IMO he'll be the new 2nd string QB if Rivers gets shipped outta there.

Offseason needs: 2 DEs, 1 DT, 1 OL, 2 LBs, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 KR.

Yeah, they'll probably trade away their young first rounder who they invested TONS of money in rather than the proven commodity who they haven't paid much for and can actually get them something in return. Rivers is definitely the one getting traded there.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Rivers will get a lot more than Brees, but ignoring the sarcasm I agree with the rest of the post.

Chargers also dealt Fonoti to the Vikings, which is a bit of a surprise.

Not really.  I read last week he was benched and the Chargers put him on the market.

What baffles me is why the Chargers would want Feeley at all.

SD_Eagle5

They just said on the news that Fonoti ballooned up to 400 lbs. and was seeing a weight management specialist but it wasn't working, he should fit right in with the Vikings circus.

General_Failure

I guess the Colts couldn't afford him.

I don't understand that, either.  They must be up to somethin'...

Maybe they figured at that weight, no woman would look twice at him so the odds of a sex scandal are lower.

He must have really been out of favor, since all they got was a conditional 6th or 7th round pick. At least that's what I read earlier.

I think that the Chargers made a good move.

They've got Mr. Mitts lined up to be the #2 and they'll likely let Brees walk via FA and keep Rivers (who I thought would be the best of the 2004 QBs). And even if they do trade Rivers and sign Brees longterm, its still a win-win situation.

But how terrible does Miami look here? :-D

They give up a 2nd round pick to the Birds for AJ.

Now they give him to SD AND a draft pick for Ms. Cleo Lemon?

Fonoti is a bum. But he'll help Minny once his hand heals.

SunMo

i'm not so convinced that they will just let Brees walk.  i think there is a chance they keep Brees and trade Rivers to somebody.  another lousy team may want to trade for Rivers as if they were drafting him for rebuilding.  the Chargers have a sure bet in Brees, I don't know if I would be so willing to let him go and put all my hopes on a guy that hasn't played a down in the league yet.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

I'd tend to agree with you. Plus LT loves Brees and they're good friends.

But SD has invested a lot in Rivers. And their GM isn't known for being smart all the time.

Diomedes

I'd hang on to Brees if I could and send Rivers packing.  Brees has proven himself to be a good NFL quarterback.  'A bird in hand' and all that jazz.  And don't forget..the Chargers invested less in Rivers than if he were the actual number one pick.  Moreover, they recouped so much value in that ridiculous trade with Jersey/A that no matter what happens with Rivers, they still win.
