bowa is going to the yankees to be their third base coach
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Has TB hired a GM yet?  I can't imagine them hiring a manager before the GM.

What if TB hired Schmidt as their new GM?  :paranoid

Schmidt talked to Michael Barkann tonight in a phone interview:

-- says even though the Threshers team stunk, he enjoyed his experience and became interested in a major league job
-- says the Phillies wanted an established manager last year, so he wasn't considered
-- says Tampa Bay isn't a pressure situation because they're still building and he's interested in teaching those guys for the next "4 or 5 years"....says he's interested in at least "4 or 5" of the young guys they have
-- thinks the Rays need a pitcher or 2 in free agency and thinks his "name" would be attractive to free agents  ::)
-- thinks his patience might wear thin with the losing
-- says he's a darkhorse candidate among the others being interviewed
-- says a minor league job "wasn't the right thing" for him and his family and he wants a major league job so he can be paid better....says he was "wasting his time at the minor league level"  ::)

Whatever...  ::)

Somehow I don't believe that money is a problem for the Schmidt family.

He damn right about these two. You see 3 years down the road, itll be Crawford, Baldelli, Young, Cantu, Upton, Kazmir, Gomes, Green, Gathright, and Huff (if he stays.) That'll be one of the most talented teams, and at that point everyones under like 26 other then Huff. But yeah, their pitching blows.
