QuoteThe right-handed ace remembered what Astros owner Drayton McLane promised him in the clubhouse before the game -- win and you'll get that all-purpose tractor you've always wanted.

I'm guessing the rules regarding this type of stuff are different in baseball than in the NFL because I remember Dick Vermiel got fined or something about 2 or 3 years ago because he promised to give Morton Anderson a $500 bottle of wine if he made a potential game winning FG.

Doesn't the NFL fine you for just about anything?

Yep.  Even when you ask them not to.  They still do.

18 year vet Kenny Lofton to the Dodgers.

It's a one year contract....I don't mind I guess.....

I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

Sgt PSN

Lofton and Nomaaaaaaaah are a couple of decent bats to have in one's line up.  Too bad the Dodgers will still suck.  :P

WASHINGTON (4) -- Alex Escobar, of; Junior Spivey, 2b; Rick Short, inf; T.J. Tucker, rhp.. Tucker

Ok, one thing that baffles me is that SD just traded Sean Burroughs' sorry ass to the Rays for Dewon Brazelton. If they had no plans on keeping Brazelton why not just non-tender Burroughs and not even bother making the trade? Confusing move by Kevin Towers there.

Danny Kolb was just reacquired by Milwaukee too...

If I am Pat Gillick I start loading up on pitching and hope that one or two of these guys can stick...

I would be interested in;

Brazelton
Wade Miller (had shoulder surgery, but see if he heals sign him to a minor league deal)
TJ Tucker
Josh Fogg
Ryan Franklin
Trever Miller
Lance Carter

Wade Miller might have the most promise there, but maybe one or two of these scrubs could pan out.

Chad Bradford is a Kent Tekulve like pitcher....maybe he'd be a good option?

Oh and the Endy Chavez era is over. :'(

DH

Alex Escobar is on that list too. He was the Mets prime prospect a few years back, and was the main piece in the deal that brought Robby Alomar to NY. I thought he would be a real good one. Maybe with the right team...
