Impressions of G-Lew

So far he has 15 receptions for 153 yards and 1 TD. I think he's playing pretty well and seems to be getting good seperation off the line. It seems like everyone was concerned on how he would fit in replacing Pinkston. I think he is doing a more than servicable job. I like what he brings and I like how he runs his routes.

I think he has the potential to have a much better season than Pinkston had last year. It also seems as though McNabb has a lot of confidence in Lewis and goes to him often.

Todd had 36 grabs all of last season while Greg has nearly half that in 3 games. Now the yardage is quite different but I think Lewis can pick up his YAC as the season progresses.

Just curious how everyone feels about his performance to date. I think Pinky is going to have to fight for his roster spot back in 2006.

I like him better than Pink on the underneath routes and gaining yards after the catch, but he doesn't stretch the field like Pink did. So far, so good. Once McNabb gets a little more comfortable with him (and Brown) our Offense will be that much better.

General_Failure

He'd better farging have more receptions than Pinkston if McNabb's going to throw 50 times a game.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Thats a good point, but that doesn't necessarily means he has to throw to G-Lew. Greg made some very clutch plays on Sunday and helped to move the chains.

I think he has more confidence across the middle than Pinkston does and I still think he has the ability to stretch the field.

I just like what I've seen from him so far and he's not really being talked about a lot considering his contributions.

I can't complain about G.Lew so far.

No complaints from me either.  Yes, Pink was a nice threat down field but other than that there wasn't much else that he could do.  I think Lewis has the ability to stretch the field but he's better at catching the underneath stuff which is what the WCO is designed for.

They've tried to stretch the field with him--McNabb overshot him twice in the SF game, and the long pass Sunday was just a tad overthrown--bouncing off the fingertips.

I nearly lost a television on that one that bounced off the fingertips.  Last year McNabb, more often than not, would have nailed that pass.

With Pinkston, McNabb would underthrow the ball because Pinky's height would give him the advantage over the smaller, quicker corners.

With Lewis, McNabb essentially has to throw the ball perfectly.  I don't think Greg's gonna win a lot of jump balls.

That's why I believe Lewis will be more of an intermediate threat.  Owens and Westbrook (and maybe Smith later on) will be the primary deep threats.

I'm impressed... he may not catch the deep balls like Pinkston but he is doing what is asked of him.

Team G Lew appreciates all the support and wonderful comments from the Eagles faithful.  We are confident that we will have a break out year and make everyone forget about Skinny.

I agree, Larry.  The balls that have just missed Lewis have been a little long - which a guy 4" taller would've caught.  As much as I dislike Pinkston, you can't teach height, as Dickie V says.
Anyone but Reid.

My impression of G-Lew:  "durrrrr I like duh fuhball durrp"

.....er....he's a decent complement to TO....  :paranoid

Team G Lew has just banished Big Ed from ever reaping the benefits of our success as an NFL player.  You are hereby banned from ever talking about G Lew again.  Be gone!!   :bash

As been said already, G Lew is a different type of compliment to the WR corps.

While G Lew is supposed to the fastest receiver the Eagles had, he was not the quickest in terms of downfield speed.  Pinkston, even with all his faults, burned many a CB and zone coverage as well, and forced teams to "remember" he was in the game - once that 35-yard strike was caught.  Because Todd was the deep threat, TO could run crossing patterns, post patterns, out patterns, etc.

Greg Lewis does not have the same kind of ability - at least not yet.  This means that TO now becomes primary receiving target AND deep threat receiver.  That being said, I like what Greg Lew has done thus far.

And Reggie Brown is turning into a real nice 3rd receiver.  But I have a feeling that he is going to end up being "the best receiver that no one's ever heard of" in a few years - real nice stats, great discipline, but doesn't make a lot of noise, so ESPN, SI, etc. will not really notice.

Somehow, this is not bad thing, either.
