QuoteANOTHER EAGLE BANGED UP

September 24, 2005
By BOB KENT

Following Saturday's walk-through, the Eagles added an 11th name to their injury report. This time its defensive tackle Darwin Walker, who apparently suffered a thigh contusion during Friday's practice. Walker is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Oakland.

Walker, who leads the team with 2.5 sacks, is an integral part of the defensive line -- not just for his inside pass rush, but also for his ability to clog the running lanes.

If Walker is unable to play, either first-round pick Mike Patterson or third-year man Sam Rayburn would slide into the starting role alongside Hollis Thomas. Walker's availability could also impact the status of veteran defensive tackle Paul Grasmanis, who was deactivated for the first two games.

The team's injury situation has dominated the headlines this week.

The week began with some uncertainty surrounding the status of injured placekicker David Akers, who started the week just kicking field goals but expanded his workload to kickoffs by week's end.

Then there was quarterback Donovan McNabb and receiver Terrell Owens, both of whom sat out Wednesday's practice. On Friday, Brian Westbrook was added to the injury list. Westbrook was given the day off to rest a knee injury he suffered in last Sunday's game.

Doesn't sound serious, but Walker has been the best DT so far and he's playing the best ball of his career so far.

Westbrook has a minor injury, too.

QuoteWestbrook misses practice, McNabb and Owens set to go

September 23, 2005
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Brian Westbrook missed practice Friday with a knee injury, but was expected to start Philadelphia's game against Oakland on Sunday.

Coach Andy Reid listed kept the Pro Bowl running back out as a precaution, just like he did with Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens earlier in the week. Reid said Westbrook was hit above the knee in Sunday's win against San Francisco and is listed as probable.

``I gave him the day off just to let that thing rest up and have him ready for Sunday,'' Reid said Friday.

McNabb, Owens and kicker David Akers all practiced Friday and will play against the Raiders.

McNabb, who sat out one practice last week with a bruised chest, hurt his groin right before halftime against San Francisco. Owens has a nagging abdominal/groin injury. Akers has been bothered by a hamstring injury.

Akers hurt his hamstring after a kickoff in the second quarter. Linebacker Mark Simoneau kicked one extra point and third-string tight end Mike Bartrum kicked off before Akers returned.

Reid said Akers should be able to kick off and kick field goals.

wow.  That will really show him!!

He better be scared now. Some guy nobody really knows said he'd rough him up. Watch out Darwin. Avenger is coming.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Darwin can bench 650 lbs. plus. Douchies scare him. Big time. For serious.

Idiot.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

hope walker can play.  he slides outside on some plays which is important since we lack experienced depth at DE.

Don "Gooooood Guy" Tollefson said that DW was "walking gingerly and limping noticably when he got out of his car about an hour ago".

Doesn't look too good, kids.

Sucks if he can't go but I'd love to see Patterson get the extra PT.  :yay

Me too...but I hope he starts Sam Rayburn in Walker's spot.

Langston is the LG and would face the RDT. Langston Walker is a load.
