I nominate this for post of the year.

Unintentionally hilarious yet completely and utterly clueless at the same time.

Throwing down the race card prematurely is the style these days.

If I'm jacked up for thinking that sorry, I've seen it quite a few times where people go all ebonics when poking fun of black dudes. If I was incorrect, well I still want RedNek jokes. ;)

You were incorrect, and you suck.

1. That wasn't ebonics. It was a play on TO's posting style, but it was really the "English-to-12-Year-Old-AOLer Translator" thing on the net. Click the link below the original posting.

2. By your igonrant knee-jerk reaction, you showed your own true colors.

3. It's spelled "redneck".

Then I saw you doing sit-ups in front of a mall.  My dad told me that it was your house.

Frankly, this headline grabbing stunt by TO has me very upset!
He should have very quietly given the ring to me and then I would have gladly made what I consider to be a substantial donation to the Katrina relief fund.

QuoteHurricane victims get a visit from T.O.

By Bob Brookover
Inquirer Staff Writer

Terrell Owens donated something more than his money to the victims of Hurricane Katrina yesterday.

He donated his time.

Instead of lounging at his Moorestown home or even shooting hoops in his infamous driveway during the Eagles' day off, the star receiver went to Houston and visited the victims of Hurricane Katrina who have been relocated from New Orleans to the Astrodome.

Kim Etheredge, the publicist for Owens, accompanied the Eagles receiver on the goodwill trip to Texas.

"It was just something he chose to do on his day off," Etheredge said. "He wanted to reach out and interact with the people whose lives have been impacted by this tragedy. It was a fantastic day. It was really overwhelming to be in there."

Etheredge said she and Owens arrived at the Astrodome around 9 a.m. They left the city and flew back to Philadelphia around 6 p.m. last night. Etheredge said the Eagles receiver spent the day distributing clothes, food and water to the Katrina victims.

"He handed out some teddy bears to little girls," Etheredge said. "He played some football and interacted with the families. He also talked to the volunteers and helped them place clothing in bags for the people. It was unbelievable. He was also part of a conversation that the Houston Comets had with the people."

The Comets are Houston's WNBA team.

The destructive force of Katrina has obviously affected Owens, who grew up in Alexander City, Ala. On his Web site - www.terrellowens.com - Owens announced Tuesday that he will auction his 2004 NFC championship ring and donate the proceeds to a hurricane relief fund.

In a letter addressed to his fellow Americans and fans around the nation, Owens wrote: "I am sure you share my horror and disbelief over the devastation along the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Never in my wildest dreams could I ever imagine the things I see on television as I watch the coverage of the destruction, the floods and the plight of the hurricane victims.

"With the help of NFL Auctions, I am auctioning off my 2004 Philadelphia Eagles NFC Championship ring, in order to raise money for hurricane relief. My hope is that one of you with a generous heart and hopefully a big pocketbook will see this as an opportunity to do your part to help those that have lost everything.

"I urge each one of you to place a bid, as much as you can afford for this worthwhile cause. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to hurricane relief. If you don't win this auction I ask you to consider donating the value you were willing to bid directly to the relief effort. Although you didn't win my ring, I believe you will find your generosity just as rewarding.

"To my NFL teammates I urge each one of you to do what you can for the victims, be it an auction or monetary donation. Many of us are from the affected states and together we can make a difference."

Owens' visit to Houston came one day after his contrite interview with ESPN's Michael Irvin, in which he said he loves quarterback Donovan McNabb.

"It's not that I hate Donovan," Owens said. "I love Donovan. I don't hate him at all. I was disappointed in a few things. I have the right to do that. Everyone speaks out of emotion. Everybody speaks out of frustration. Everybody's done it. That means I'm human. If you want me to go in and say I was wrong, maybe I was. Maybe I wasn't."

Owens also said that he plans to talk to McNabb before Monday night's season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. The two men have barely spoken to each other since training camp opened Aug. 1 at Lehigh University and have directed some harsh words at each other through the media.

"I will [talk to McNabb]," Owens said. "I will. You guys will see. It's not going to be a year-long thing. Leading up to this Monday night game, things will get worked out."

He has to be one of the most interestingly unpredictable people in the world.

And Les Bowen jumps on the "TO is auctioning it off to piss off management" wagon:

QuoteT.O.'s one-ring circus

HERE'S HOPING Terrell Owens' planned auctioning of his NFC Championship ring on his Web site nets plenty of money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. But, as is often the case with T.O., there's a subtext to this generous gesture.

Several weeks ago, a rumor circulating among media people friendly with Owens contended T.O. had sent his NFC ring back to the Eagles, unopened, as a demonstration of his unhappiness over the team's refusal to revise his contract. At the time, the Eagles hadn't issued any rings, so the rumor didn't spread far.

Last week, the Eagles handed out the diamond-encrusted rings, whose value an Eagles spokesman declined to reveal. This week, Owens seems to have found a way to avoid accepting the ring, while also avoiding any criticism he might have encountered for just tossing the ring back in management's face.

In his ESPN interview with Michael Irvin this week, Owens referred to things he'd said "out of emotion, out of frustration" - presumably, like calling Donovan McNabb a "hypocrite."

"That means I'm human," Owens concluded. "If you're going to say I was wrong, maybe I was. Maybe I wasn't."

Indeed. Maybe that rumor accurately reflected what T.O. planned to do with his championship ring. And maybe it didn't.

T.O. among NFL's top 10... barely

Don't tell T.O., but he's not the best player in the NFL. According to The Sporting News, that honor goes to Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Patriots QB Tom Brady is No. 2, followed by Chargers running back LaDanian Tomlinson, who was No. 1 last season.

Eagles QB Donovan McNabb ranked sixth on the top 10 list. And T.O... . ?

He's 10th. Not to worry, though; we're sure he's still a legend in his own mind.
