And how did it work out for you? What happened after you filed? How long did it take to hear any response?

Thanks :)

I know it goes by the state/area you're in. I was going to file one 3 years ago regarding a bogus phone bill I received (long story). Instead, a buddy of mine said 'let me handle this'. He called the company, made up some completely fake name/case # etc. (said he was with the BBB) and had it taken care of.  :P

Good luck accomplishing anything through them. Without a massive number of complaints they are more or less impotent because no one actually listens to what they have to say or even bothers to look it up.

I made a complaint against a furniture company that sold me a recliner.  It was pouring that day and I had a pickup so they said to leave it and come get it tomorrow.  Of course, when I go to pick it up that next day, they had sold it and was gone.  They weren't ordering any new ones (they were selling the end of their stock), they refunded me my money and I have never gone back.  The BBB complaint did nothing that I can see.  They already had multiple complaints against them (the only reason I went was because of the sale).

That has been my experience as well.  I filed one against a carpet distributor years ago, because the carpet began to "spot" a month or two after we got it.  When I filed the complaint, I found out the carpet people already had numerous complaints, and the BBB advised me to sue (which I never did).

A person at the BBB told me that if you have to file a complaint, its already too late for you.  The best thing you can do is check a company out before you do business with them, and file a complaint to warn others.

One time I tried to file a complaint with the BBB.  Unfortunately for me, my complaint was against the BBB and I think they burned my complaint and toasted marshmellows on the open fire.

Whatever they did, the complaint won't matter. Comcast has as close to a monopoly as their is in this country right now. But best of luck.

If you're planning on filing a complaint regarding a cable company, shouldn't you be filing one with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) instead?

Filing complaints about anything to anyone is just about useless. Instead try the road less traveled: Apathy.  It really works.

BBB complaints do nothing.

best revenge is to stop doing business with them. then maybe they will listen.

otherwise...just bitch about it and keep paying them each month, that will teach 'em!

BBB might have an impact on some local company ripping people off, but the effect on an enormous multi-billion dollar corporation like Comcast would be nil. Especially in Philly, the city that can't subsidize all of Comcast's activities fast enough in order to keep Comcast HQ in town.
