Achilles tendon surgery has an extremely high success rate. If all goes well, Pinkston will be on the field for the post-draft minicamp in late April.

Pinkston has been a valuable, consistent and capable receiver since the Eagles selected him in the second round of the 2000 draft.

He's played in 90 of a possible 91 games and last year led the NFC with 18.8 yards per catch and posted his first two 100-yard games. The Eagles are 53-18 when Pinkston starts, and he's the No. 2 postseason receiver in franchise history, behind only Harold Carmichael.

With all of this receiver nonsense there is a part of me that wishes Pinky was still available, but I'm glad he isn't starting for us and I'm glad that the other guys will be given a chance to show what they can do. Maybe being hurt for a year will allow him to get a little thicker for next year.

And maybe spider monkeys can drink more whiskey than a seasoned Irish cop.
