Your offense will probably double the points it gives up this year, and the defense will frustratedly give up midway through the season. So, the Skins will give up about 17-18 points per game, but you'll come back here and try to magically turn it into 10 points a game with your fuzzy math.

Your team sucks. All of it. The defense only slightly sucks less than the rest.

Fuzzy math?  Any fans with an ounce of dignity would just agree that our defense gave up less points than your team.

Here's what I ran:

Eagles:  196 points in the 14 games that counted (14 points per game); or 254 in the two extra pre-postseason games (15.88 PPG).

taterskins:  219 points in 16 games (13.69 PPG).

So I will agree:  The taterskins gave up less points while their defense was on the field than the Eagles did when theirs was.

However, what variables go into that?
- You gave up four TDs on turnovers, the Eagles just one.  How many Eagles turnovers led to opposition scores once the defense took the field.
- You had a TOP advantage over the Eagles (31:19 to 28:26).  How many more possessions did the Eagles' opponents have to score?
- The Eagles had 35 points scored on their defense in the 4th quarter in which the team held a multiple-touchdown lead (in this case, 7 vs. Giants week 1, 6 vs. Detroit in week 3, 8 by Carolina in week 6, and 14 by Green Bay in week 13.  To be fair, I looked at the taterskins' scores as well, and in only one game did they even win by more than 10 points, that was the Dec. 5 game vs. the Giants.  You could also argue the 26-16 win vs. SF when the 49ers scored in the 4th quarter, but then I'd have to go back to the Eagles' schedule and look up more games as well.

So, I freely admit that the taterskins defense gave up less points than the Eagles.  Did that make them a "better" defense?  Not in my opinion.  The Eagles had large, comfortable leads (10 or more points) in at least 9 of their wins last year, lead in which the defense could easily have played their 2nd, or even some 3rd stringers, and gave up some garbage TDs.  The taterskins, who only won two games all season by 10 or more points in which a 2nd string defense could even be a factor.

So I will acquiesce:  The taterskins' defense gave up less points.  The Eagles won more games.  Satisfied?

Not just more games Geo, how about over twice as many games! Not to mention that two of them were over the Deadskins. I have a question for ya', Bigskinballer, when was the last time the Eagles actually lost to the Skins? Bet you'll have to look that one up it was sooooo long ago.

Really though, I ask you, has anyone else ever seen grown men that are fans of any other team other than the Skins, grown men who obviously love pork, dress up like women and go to a football game?

For that matter, I don't think I've ever seen any fan in the stands for another team wearing shoulderpads either..... but at least it's shoulder pads with pants and not a freakin' dress.

A lot of my friends from High School went to UVA. They used to all get dressed up in collared shirts and ties and shtein tp go to the football games. That was pretty much as foreign to me as dressing up as a woman for football. I went to Penn State. Wearing good clothes to tailgate for a game would have meant the end of those clothes. Period.

Here's my favorite stat from last year.  Everyone misses the point when they are hand-wringing about TOP and rushing yards against - the Eagles let the other team kill the clock.  This is the "bendability index", indicating the number of yards a team had to move the ball to score a point - I extended it to see plays per point (more plays indicates fewer yards per play, more wasted time)

By the way...

Joey The Leg was on SAS's show last night with Salisbury. Theisman reiterated his Skins pick to go to the NFCCG and after SAS and Salisbury fell off their chairs and the audience stopped laughing Salisbury said that he would walk from Bristol, CT to Washington DC in the dead of winter and raise money for charity and match the amount raised dollar for dollar if the Skins go to the NFCCG this year.
