so everyone agrees that the taterskins have a better D than the eagles?

No; however, I will concede the taterskins do have a very good defense.

How are they not better when they gave up less yards AND less points and were on the field much longer?

Moron:

The Eagles opponents had the ball for 31:34 in 2004 while the taterskins opponents had the ball for 28:41.

Try again with the limp-meatcicle time of possession angle.

Alright, well we still gave up less yds/pass and yds/rush.

Dude, I guess you forgot that most of starters didn't play in the final two games.

Our second and third stringers gave up a total of 58 points in the last two games of the season. Skins fans constantly overlook that because it doesn't support their cause.

Just about to chime in on that one, Drunk...

The Eagles averaged 5.84 yards per attempt against the pass and 4.31 ypa against the run.

The Skins averaged 5.78 ypa against the pass and 3.11 ypa against the run.

Take out the two blowouts when our defensive team didn't play much, if at all, and those figures drop dramatically.

Also, considering the Eagles usually were blowing teams out by halftime in most games, the statistics that the Hoglicker is clinging desperately to are specious at best.

The bottom line is, the Eagles were 13-3 and the taterskins were 6-10.  By any statistical measure I've ever heard of, they got their asses owned in that department by the Birds.

Not entirely true SD the starting defense did give up 1 td on the first drive to the Rams. ;)  doesn't matter though 51 still can be credited to the 2nd and 3rd teamers.

The Eagles rush defense--and, defense overall--stiffened considerably after Trotter moved into the starting MLB position at mid-season. He'll be there out of the gate this year, folks.

Yeah, Portis tore up the Eagles D (especially as a receiver) last year:

Nov 17:      1 Reception,  - 4 Yds    (17 carries, 37 yards, 2.2 YPC)
Dec 12:      4 Receptions, 22 yds    (23 carries, 80 yards, 3.5 YPC)
