But, you're missing the point...no one is saying the taterskins' Defense sucks. We're just saying the Eagles defense is better, AND improving, and it was a response to a taterskins' fan claiming the Skins defense was better. Points allowed is the only stat that matters. The Eagles defense wouldn't have given up 58 points in the last two games if they had any meaning, since the starters rested.

And, if you look at the rushing stats per game (not on average), the Eagles gave up a lot of rushing yards--but, NOT POINTS--in the first half of the season, and then were much stingier the rest of the season after Trotter moved full-time into the middle. The Eagles also significantly beefed up their interior DL for 2005.

RE: your opinion that the Eagles defense would be horrible without the Eagles offense...at which defensive positions do you think the taterskins are better?

We had 16.6 points per game and you had 16.3

Damn i thought the way you were talking it was like 14, i knew my own teams but had to look it up for you.

with our offense and field position which cause many many field goals even if they went 3 and out our team still D gave up .3 more points a game and DESTROYED you in every statistical catagory.

maybe if you didn't give up 120 yards per game on the ground

LOL, you realize that the 120 yards per game on the ground is usually at the end of the game when it matters for shtein. Take, for example, the opening game last year vs. the Giants. Tiki Barber had 125 yards total for the game. 72 of them came with like 5 minutes left to play in a game the Eagles were winning 31-10. That's how it worked all year. Don't throw that bogus stat at me, I'll beat you every time.

And for the yards run earlier in the game? Well, if you can't get in the endzone, what the farg is the point?
You honestly think you have BEAT? me? WTF? what you guys are thinking that your .3 points less per game makes you the best fricking Defense in the entire league.  Our Defense in your Defenses position would do a hell of a lot better and as said we are going in circles because you can't admit that we have a better Defense.  Your team is better, no problem there, you offense is lightyears ahead of our offense of last year, but while both D's were good we were better, plain and simple, we were better

Why are you trying to converse reasonably with this dude?

He's convinced that the Skins D is the best. You're not going to change his mind and he's not going to change yours. You're all just talking in circles.

The Eagles defense let up garbage yards...not to mention the yards and points given up in the last 2 games of the season last year when the 2nd and 3rd stringers were playing.

Oh man, you're looking dumber and dumber with these stats you keep throwing out. Give it up, really.

Thank you for a civil explaination.  My fault horrible is allittle strong.
NOw to say what is better,  Very few fans claim that we have the strongest players in the league.  It is hard to compete against your entire backfield going to the probowl.  but the only part of our D that is truly better is the coaching.  Greg Williams is why we are good.
We do have our Washington,Springs, griffin, taylor and such.

But you also had your Kearse, trotter, dawkins, Lewis and such.

We can rival to have the best Defense in a division in the league.  The only one that i feel that touches us is the AFC north but with Cowboys set to have a good D and the both of us improving we have strong defenses in the division.

Lets's see...

-(My quote) Haven't had a winning record anywhere near the Reid era for the Eagles; -
(Response) we still hold the series lead over you guys
  (Counter) - "Series lead" means very little in the present scheme.  Also, your record against Reid is not all that great.

- (My Quote)Only seem to sell out games when FedEx field turns into Lincoln Financial South;
  (Response) sorry, every home game was sold out last season, we set an attendance record at the home opener vs. the bucs with 91,000 fans
   (Counter) - How many of  those sellout games were close to all taterskin fans?  I've seem to read a whole lot of stories on taterskin MBs about "the lack of support by Skin fans during the season, mostly from the fans who sell their tickets - mainly because the Skins are not that good, and haven't been for many, many years."

- (My Quote) Having their "All-Pro Defense" burned by the likes of C Johnson, T Small, Pinkston, Thrash, etc.
  (Response) more like having a rookie be taugh a lesson, i can't believe you even put pinkston on that list, do i need to show the clip where he deliberatly dropped the pass to avoid being slammed by sean taylor last year?
  (Counter) - Then how about, to refresh your own memory, in the same game, where Pinky, the same Pinky, burned Smoot and took his lunch money, catches the McNabb bomb, and gets hit by the same Sean Taylor?

- (My Quote) Fight with the Giants and Cowboys for LAST place in the NFC East -
  (Reponse) say what you want while you can
  (Counter) Grab some popcorn, cop a squat, and take notes.  The taterskins have not made any significant steps forward to challenge the Eagles for the NFC East - Every step forward has been accompanied by 2 steps back.

- (My quote) Are still without a bonafide QB, LB Corps, reliable Special Teamers, and IMO a good WR corps;
  (Response) still without a bonafide lb corps? wtf are you smoking, we have arrington and washington on the outside, both are pro bowlers, and we have a reliable player in the middle.
   (Counter) Took the bait.  Your LB corps is full of somewhat talented guys who will never realize their full potential.  For one thing, your defensive line is line a sandbag wall waiting to burst.  And your defensive schemes, if this happens, expose the LBs quickly.  Arrington is the prime example.

- (My quote) Couldn't handle the salary cap to save their lives;
  (Response) that's why we've never had a salary cap purge like the titans had, in case you haven't noticed it hasn't been that way the last few years
   (Counter) Small consolation for the taterskins.  Regardless of whether you have a "cap purge" or not, handling the cap means managing the money properly to field a competitive product.  That means not paying Brunnell a ridiculuous signing bonus.  That also means not signing a WR to a ridiculuous contract and then trading him AND taking his salary hit, getting another WR and signing HIM to a lavish contract as well.  In the present century, the Skins have not finished above .500 at all.

- (My Quote) Have 1 playoff appearance, NO Division Titles, NO Conference Titles in at least the last 8 years;
(Response) yeah that one playoff appearance, we won the division,sorry to burst your bubble.
(Counter) Small consolation:

Since 1994

1994 - (3-13)
1995 - (6-10)
1996 - (9-7)
1997 - (8-7-1)
1998 - (6-10)
1999 - (10-6)
* - On this, having checked, The Skins did win the division.
But there was no bubble to burst.  ONE division title.  The Eagles have already won 4.
2000 - (8-8)
2001 - (8-8)
2002 - (7-9)
2003 - (5-11)
2004 - (6-10)

But enough time wasted.

Greg Williams is why we are good.

Of course he is. Can we all just agree on that and end this retarded conversation? Williams is a great coordinator. Jim Johnson is also exceptional but Williams is great.

There. Please shut up, you're all giving me a headache.

I hope all you Skin fans can stop on by after the Eagles obliterate your team. Y'all come back now...hea...?

I wonder if any of these guys are old enough to remember the last time the Skins actually won a game against the Eagles.

refresh my memory...who won that game?
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

PoopyfaceMcGee

The good news for the Skins is that their offense is pretty much unstoppable also, what with James Thrash in the slot and an offensive line that isn't at all overpaid or overrated.  Additionally, Gregg Williams is such a good coordinator that he won't need decent, healthy CB's to stop passing attacks.  He can just scheme for it.

I like the Skins chances to finish 14-2 this year.

When I say "like", I mean it's amusing and fun to think about odds like 39,495,000:1.
....and that's still with the two losses coming to the 15-1 Eagles.

The people on this site understand football better than the fans on any message board I've ever been to. They also happen to be Eagles fans. You're not going to get a whole ot of respect here because your team is garbage and your fans are completely incapable of seeing that. To be treated as an intelligent fan of a rival team you must first aknowledge that Skins fans (stereotypically) have no grasp of the depths their team has sunk to before any of us will give you the smallest bit of credit. I have lots of friends who are Skins fans since I spent most of my adult life living around DC, and I can tell you that only one of them has any sort of realistic outlook on the team. I win lots of money betting against the Skins from the other ones. It's like some disease that resides in the DC Metro area's drinking water. You're all incapable of recognizing your pile of shtein football team for what it is, even though there is over a decade's worth of evidence at your disposal to prove it.

The fact of the matter is that the taterskins are terrible and have been for the entire Dan Snyder reign. There doesn't appear to be any light at the end of the tunnel either as they continuously fumble through every offseason and have no hope of ever putting a consistant product on the field while Snyder is the owner. So either start there, prove that you aren't an idiot, or expect everyone here to treat you like a typical delusional skins fan nitwit.

we may disagree on some things, but being a fan of a rival team doesn't mean that i'm a worthless piece of trash. the team i may root for may not be the best, but that isn't a reason to disrespect me. I agree on the facts that my team hasn't been good, hell, they haven't been average the past couple seasons. The only bright spot i have to look forward to is our defense. I don't represent the opinions of other skins fans, i have my own opinions, which differ from there. realistically, i see my team winning 7 to 8 games at the most, which isn't that great. the only reason we might have that number is because our defense keeps us in games. it's up to our offense, to get up to par. that is a task which we have failed miserably at the last couple of years. who knows, right now i'm thinking it could happen again, but i have reason to believe it might not happen again, based on the changes that have happened within the running game, it's more suited to portis' style. i could be wrong, i might be wrong, but hey, i'm not perfect.  right now, i see the taterskins still as a 6-10 team, no better, no worse. that's all we can expect to be until someone steps up. i have been able to maintain friendships with cowboy fans better than some taterskin fans i know.  just because i root for an opposite team doesn't mean i can't coexist peacefully with fans of other teams.
