QuoteFormer taterskins star nabbed in cocaine bust

Daily News Wire Services

Timmy Smith, who set a Super Bowl rushing record when he played for the Washington taterskins in 1988, has been arrested after allegedly trying to sell cocaine to an undercover drug agent.

Smith, 41, of Denver, and his brother, Chris, of suburban Lakewood, were in custody and due in court Monday, U.S. attorney's spokesman Jeff Dorschner said yesterday. They could face charges of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine. Bond had not been set.

Authorities said the investigation has resulted in the seizure of about 2.8 pounds of cocaine and unspecified assets worth about $100,000. Search warrants were executed on houses in Denver and Lakewood, authorities said.

Smith rushed for a Super Bowl-record 204 yards and two touchdowns in the taterskins' 42-10 victory over the Denver Broncos in 1988. He gained weight the following season and never performed at the same level. He last played in the NFL in 1990 with Dallas.

He worked this summer as a youth counselor and participated in several youth football camps, authorities said.

The way it looks now, it could be tough winning the bet, but being a real fan of the Eagles, I would sooner play chess than bet on the taterskins to win anything.

I was being sarcastic, but I'm not too awful worried anyway, the taterskin lover is cheap, I'll have more in postage and money order fees than the actual bet anyway if I lose.

QB Eagles

I hope taterskins fans are enjoying the last few hours of the Skins sitting alone at 1st in the NFC East. It's like an eclipse. Probably won't see it again for several decades.

Little Ms. Gibbs wrote a new article. And, being a master in the field of journalism, this one is truly something special.

QuoteWhen Santana Moss caught the go-ahead touchdown pass from Mark Brunell, I found myself acting a bit like one of those head-standing beer bong guys who get the laughs at parties described by Mark Steven in last week's ExtremeSkins Fan View

I guess Art was a bigger loser than me in college. Now that is sad.

QuoteNow having cheated the Chicago Bears out of their rightful chance of victory against the taterskins with our unsportsmanlike cheering, we face a critical juncture as fans of this team as we head into our home game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Yup. The taterskins fans won them that game. Go collect your paychecks guys. It was all you.

The entire article is saying something you can sum up in two sentences: Fans can cheer and be loud at games. That article that said it was bushleague is stupid. Yea, he's right. But, to Art's credit, he still sounds like a fairy.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Oh, Arthur. What a pile o' shtein.

Great for laughs though.

With apologies to Morpheus:

"Would that include a race to the bottom of the NFC East?"

No, it wouldn't, I'd bet on that, and anything else that involves the Skins and last place.

You got me on that one.

Congratulations, you barely beat another inept team.

Bears, Seahawks, Cowboys.

Congrats, you're slightly better than bad.

You're one step away from mediocrity. So big!

Congrats on your big step from absolute sucking worse than any other team in the NFL to just sucking.
