I find it supremely ironic that a guy making a minimum salary after literally stealing money from his previous employer has the balls to blame said former employer.

QuoteJust because he has been sidelined with a knee injury since the first week of camp and the Chiefs' WR corps is full of players who are special-teams contributors, we're told not to be surprised if Freddie Mitchell makes the team and is deactivated until he's back to full strength.

Waste of a roster spot.  They should put him on the PUP list.

That's just stupid. He's been out since the first eek of camp with a knee injury? No wonder he has so much time to give interviews. Why not just cut him and sign someone that's ready to play now. They can't be pining for the production he brings to the team since he hasn't done anything.

QuoteCHIEFS AX FRED EX

In a move that won't surprise many who have followed his activity (or lack thereof) in training camp and the preseason, the Chiefs have cut receiver Freddie Mitchell, a league source has informed us.

Mitchell, a first-round selection in a 2001 draft that has included more than its share of round-one receiver busts, was cut by the Eagles in the offseason.  After spending some time on the shelf and not getting many sniffs, he signed with the Chiefs.

Mitchell was buried on the team's depth chart at receiver.  Though he hardly was in position to elevate the talent level, the position remains dangerously thin as the team prepare for the 2005 season opener in 10 days.  Eddie Kennison and second-year man Samie Parker are listed as the starters, followed by Dante' Hall, Chris Horn, Marc Boerigter, John Booth, and Craphonso Thorpe.

Don't be surprised to see the Chiefs scouring the waiver wire on Saturday and beyond for someone/anyone who can bolster what looks to be a not-so-dominant crew.

As to Mitchell, our guess is that he'll only get another chance if injury creates an unexpected hole in someone's roster.  Even then, we don't expect him to get anything more than a one-year, minimum deal.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

It's not too late!   We haven't signed McCants yet.  GET FREDDIE!!

I want him back.  It goes against everything I believe, but I do.

If Freddie were to come back on his hands and knees -- as well as sign a contract stating that he won't talk to the media or anyone else -- only then would Reid consider him.  :-D
More Mahe please.
