So....

Should they outlaw QBs getting hit from the blindside too? Afterall, they're not looking at their tacklers. :P

It wasn't a dirty hit. Watch CB's tackle RB's guys. They go low 90% of the time.

They shouldn't do anything(in regards to rule changes), I just think the players have to have a respect for the players they are going against.  When a guy is not looking, you shouldn't go hard right at his knees especially in the first preseason game, period.  That's just chickenshtein football.  This isn't black or white here, there is a lot of grey area and it is a case by case situation.  I'm not saying no one should ever tackle low or hit someone who isn't looking, I never said that.  I'm talking about THIS case, a preseason game, guy is not looking and you go hard right at his knees.
There's no respect in that hit IMO.

Rome

I was a 165 pound defensive back in high school and I was taught to put my shoulder pad right into the outside knee and wrap up when I made a tackle.

If that's cheating or dirty play, it's the first I've ever heard of it.

:P

I watched the play several times again last night.  Still not even close to a dirty play.   Ritchie catches the ball, as soon as he turns around he is hit in the legs for the tackle.   If you cant understand why a 190lb CB tackles a 250lb FB at the legs you better go back to watching  figure skating.

Exactly, I only had to watch it once to see that.  Who released the retard(NB) from the tetherball pole?

rewatched it on lunch break(TiVo) IT was a clean hit, not intentional and it was borderline top of the knee area. I'm sure it hurt, but you hardly blame a guy for hitting. Was he supposed to ask Ritchie to hold still so he could line it up better. Full speed game action shouldn't be over scrutinized by anyone not on the field.  :=)

I forget how there is only one opinion allowed on this board at a time, otherwise all the regulars start bangin heads.
I throw out an opinion, all you throw out basically the same post.  You guys are getting a little too robotic.

MURP

If you cant handle your "opinion" being challenged, then dont put it out there Nancy.
